Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression

Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
thx hippi, yah ive really been enjoying the webcam thing. Except when I nick my screen when pulling points:tongue2:...And I think the honey comb was blue caramel w/ silver fume.
Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
Looks like a sweet setup man! Love the black torch. Looks like you are working in a reducing flame a little, dunno if your meaning to do that or not tho. Anyways works lookin cool

Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
i just got the same torch, but hav'nt burnt the black off the tip yet....i love it!
Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
lol, wasnt talking bout the torch picture. haha
You work has a lot of muddy colors is what i was talking about, that is from not burning off the haze on the piece. Use more oxy and you will get rid of that and show the true color. Thats what i meant and dont know if you wanted the muddy color or not. lol
Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
Love the setup man, thinking about getting the same kiln.
Really dig the hammer, tried one today after i saw yours!

Oh ha sorry DD :puzzled: that makes sense now. I just bought about 15 lbs of new colors and have been experimenting. i was wondering why the colors were so bland looking, thx for the tip ill be sure to turn up the oxy a bit!
Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
I got super inspired to make some different glass late last night, here's what I just pulled out of the kiln. :)
Big Spoon-
This one seems to have some of what I'm assuming is silver fume that just did not want to burn off at some places..any ideas?

Its a little wonky here and there but it works great for the most part, and I learned a TON doing this little project.
Thx for lookin!!

Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
Looking good for less than a year in. One question though, why did you put your fan so low? Heat rises and you may have better luck moving it up, if you plan on building a hood.
Keep it up.

Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
Nice work
For that spoon did you use english ivy? Because I've had similar colors like that come out from unencased and over reduced areas.
Btw on that piece did you coil pot or encase a tube w/ color and then clear?
Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
Thanks wieseatron!
Yup thats english ivy, and I was told by a friend that I may have just put too much silver fume on it, thus the fumy lines. Also, I used a piece of 25 and layed down the ivy on top, than clear dots.

Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
sweet that inline is coool...does it stand...or do u empty the water...these inlines still kinda confuse me...never owned or used one...
Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
it has a little kick stand on the back that lets it do a gangsta lean and, well, i put it a little too close to the base ha:bangHead: live and learn i guess:chilling:
Re: ThinkGreen's work and progression
thats a clever way to do an inline. just pull out a point and weld a tube around it. time saver
