Flying with my torch???

I am nervous to fly with my torch. Any suggestions on packing it up and checking it? My heart would break if something happened to it. :puzzled:

An option is to pack it up and UPS/Fedex it to agi or a hotel room... its cheaper , insurance and tracking. and you can seal it up tighter.

I flew to Vancouver from Houston with my torch in my carry on luggage with no problem either way. On the other hand I have heard of people being given problems about their torches smelling like propane and having to ship them at the last minute. Bubble wrap is your friend when shipping a torch.

That torch can take a beating. Wrap it up in bubble wrap, like they said. I never had a problem traveling with my red max. But you have to check it. Make sure to drain your hoses before disconnecting them and let them sit overnight before Packing to let some of the smell dissipate. They will stink up your bag.

may depend on what kind of torch i had my delta elite w/ the base in my suitcase and just the barrel/hoses in my backpack. the guy pulled out a tape measure and measured the barrel and said it was a tool and was more than 7" so its against the rules he let me slide and take it on with me but warned me future employees might take the rule more seriously. i've never heard anyone else hear that little rule though so i dont know.

Depends on weight as well. I carried my base to my herbie with lemon the way to California no problem. On the way back they made me check it as it was more than eight pounds, and fucked up my torch as well.

When I was on the old continent, recently, I was flying with my torches all over the place. Mind you, Europe isn't America and I had my torches (mirage and scorp) in my check-in luggage, wrapped in foam sheeting in a box. I also took off my base and left it at home. I posted the modification in here and when I was setting up my torch, getting g-clamps locally wasn't a problem at all. I didn't need the screws. The base on a mirage weighs 3kg, which is a fair whack when you have weight restrictions. I also had a hard shell suitcase.
I had no problems whatsoever with it ... but like I said, it wasn't America ...
