Nice... that's an interesting design. Does it hold in the heat well? I assume not quite as much as a bell kiln.
It's an awesome design capable of holding large peices and garaging them without having to cram it into the front of your kiln. Scoz has a home made one that is very similar and it is sweet!
Works great I saw Robin Hood make a Bow and Arrow and used this kiln in the process.
Yup I've used scozzes and love it. If I had the cash I would swoop one immediately...
Is that the Xl in the pic? Looks like a nice kiln, what sort of controller does it have?
The picture is the XL Not sure on the controller.. I'll ask
Just thought I'd chime in and help Phyllis with some questions. The kiln in the pics is actually a prototype version of the XL that we made a while back. The dimentions of that one was 27''wide18''deep15''tall. J-Red and a few others have been putting it to the test. After some feedback, we made some minor changes like hinges/hardware, size of bead doors, lower amperage elements, etc. The first batch is spoken for, but we plan on having more in 2-3 weeks. Both models have 2 elements in the chamber, and one in the lid. The smaller unit is set up for a 30 amp plug, and the XL is running off a 50 amp plug. These kilns are obviously designed for larger technical multiple section work, so they have a very even heat throughout the chamber. And yes, they rebound to target temp extremely quick. We tested it by turning it off completely and allowing it to drop to 600 degrees. It was back at 1080 in 3-4 minutes. The way they are designed, they hold their core heat much better than a bell style kiln. We are currently using Fuji's (and we have a few different controller options as always), but will probably be putting our new Digitry touch screen controllers in them when we are done with our testing. Anyone interested in one, should contact Phyllis. Trev's is the only distributor that will have them availible until we can get caught up.
Touch screen controller? That is dope! Where can i take a peep at those?
