im looking into small lathes hoping tsomeone may point me in the right direction
I know SEM is comming out with a smaller lathe soon, and will be extremly affordable.
ive done some looking for lathes...ive found many models and they are very expensive. i havent found any small lathe worth buying because it not much more to get a regular sized lab lathe
that sure aint cheep...
comparing it to the 45,000-50,000 lathes, its cheap.
These SEM lathes are worth every penny if not more. When the smaller model comes out, don't be surprised if the larger model doesn't go up in price. Anyone contemplating getting one should get on it now. There isn't one other company out there producing brand new lathes, on the scale, and caliber of these. They will run for decades with only the bearings needing replaced, but that might even take 20-30 years, and even that repair/replacement is with off the shelf parts.
The small model has me real excited. The dimensions are going to be based roughly on the specs of the Bethlehem gl150 lab lathe. Exciting times for sure.
just picked up 2 chinese table top lathes small bore only 60mm but does the trick paid $7K but they were local
seen lathes sell for cheap as 5K overseas but have to deal w. shipping and money transfers and stuff
