Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
how do i know wich diameter my color encased tube is after pulling it down?
i made a diffused downstem with a worked section in the downstem ground joints were 18.8 but after i assembled it i saw that the inner diameter was only like 5mm instead of ca regular 10mm inner diameter, the outer diameter was okay, the glass in the worked section was way too thick, i could have pulledit a bit longer, i thought afterwards but how do you know the inner diameter whilst making the downstem
kinda confusing i know

kind regards :D
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
can someone tell me something about the tube pulls, what am i doing wrong?
kind regards frank
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
you can score it and snap where you wanna see how thick it is..
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
when ist cold, but man that shit ist hot...:D
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
Frank for me it was just a case of working with consistent size tube diameter, lengths and lengths of sticks for the tube pulls.
After doing a couple I could anticipate the finished sizes by seeing the outside diameter and length of the finished pull I was going for.
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
your slides are lookin good. tip on the straw from my wife, who uses a glass straw daily. don't put the color so close to the top, some of my straws have color to the top and she doesn't like them as well as the ones that have an inch of clear at the top.
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
as i was finished wit them i thought the same thing...:D
@ swampy, jeah i thought i need to practice , this seems to be one of theese things were you get the click suddenly and surprising

Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
Damn, I just deleted a whole post, hate this stupid text box...
But yeah I guess it's just practice eh, like them guys that make and sell coloured tube, they must work from same size pieces to get consistent sized finished tubes.
Here's another nice tube; I recently scored an optic mold from Weaver Industries. I blow out a 25mm cobalt blue tube into it, just a short stub off maybe 100mm, silver fume that then vaccuum sleeve it with 38 heavy.
Pull it out, it gives a nice effect like a pinstriped suit fabric. Might be cheaper in time and materials than making up from sticks and two lengths of tube.
It looks like this.
Wo bist du? Ich lebte dreizehn Jahre in Deutschland, sehr schöner Ort. Hannover, Bergen, Düsseldorf und anderen Orten ...
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
also gut, soll'n wir 'nen Deutschen thread anfangen? Wusste nicht dass du auch Deutsch sprichst, Swampy!
and who ever said that where the colour is is where the top is? That colour could be at the bottom :P Nice progress, Steak!

I used to be able to get by with shopping, ordering a pizza and 'hey does that thing come with batteries', all the usual stuff but it's eighteen years since I left so it's just from memory. Just like any language, unless you practice it you forget eh.
Much respect for Germany, good beer, traffic laws, excellent attitude, good beer, fit wimmin, naked bathing, good beer, zenf.

Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
The slides are beautiful! The holes look a tad on the large side though.. Like they'd pull a lot of tobacco through
