Love the green units Kut. Why cant the units be sold? I don't see anything wrong with them. What am I missing?
top post on this page referring to Sepulworlds post previous page.
not only is the bowl upsidedown, but the bowl hole is way to big. otherwise, they're outta the park. nicely done again
I heard the only way you can hit these is by doing a handstand. lol
Nice colors on those green ones.
You are using SBA right? It defenitely works the best for this technique.
Sba?

beautiful work!
nice goblets man
i guess i'm the jealous one now.
ok you got me feeling stupid too. what do you mean?
on another note, i made honey comb thingy the other day, and was trying for a more neutral flame as opposed to heavily oxy, which is what i typically lean towards as a noob, i go oxy heavy often if i think it might make things easier to not reduce etc. anyhow, i ended up reducing this exp green. #5 pretty bad i think, but it still looks kool i think. i like the blues, its just a bit too much, need more of the green in there. most exp green mibs i make are mostly green. someone said reduced green should have a tendency to crack, but it surely does not, its close to a 2 inch diamater semi marble.

Dont worry dude, you will figure out the flame chemistry soon. It takes a while.
When I was still noob I thought I was oxidizing everything too but I was reducing shit most of the time.
it seems to me you need a fair amount of hissy sound with most gtt flames to achieve an oxidizing flame? only exception is maybe when adding more oxy with a second stage.
these pics are loading way slow for me but all i'm seein is some reduced lines mang
ughh that alien tech is horrible ! :D
Yeah you reduced the hell out of both those colors. looks cool though. You should just send me the Kabuki and hang up yer hat ;) J/K
the color is neat, but the bubbles in that sample are kinda meh, do you not agree? tons of them easily apparent. its laced throughout. i will be most likely just making my own from now on. i got a big piece left that i bought tho. maybe something good will come of it, we'll see. i have made a few pieces of tubing that had very little bubble phenom, and one that was worse than this, but i dont want to pay big bucks for this stuff. its not worth it imnoobo. i know they say they are selling it like hotcakes, so i can only asssume my piece is worse than average, or most people are much less picky on average.
It is selling like hotcakes. And I am very picky. I ran mine through the kiln and it looks frickin sweet. I can not keep anything in my case I make with that stuff. Abe already said if you are not happy with what you got contact him and exchange it for a nicer piece.
did you use some that you didnt run thru the kiln, and see a difference?
Yup. They both look kick ass. Barely any bubbles in either. Just seemed easier to strike and a little more stable when it had already been through kiln. I have no complaints at all.
and as you mentioned, you are picky(good eye), and you can see all the little bubbles in the pictures i posted one page back?
The bubbles in the EX green piece are way more distracting than the tiny ones in the AT piece. Work it in a more oxidizing flame and blow it out paper thin and add clear patterns. Looks so much cooler than you could imagine.
When the candles on the flame have no yellow tips you have an oxidizing flame.
yeah i been talking to crayvn about this, and as far as i can tell thats not possible on a gtt unless you crack a secondary ring of oxy. i always see yellow in the flame tips pretty much unless that is done. even cranking the main oxy way past the point of efficiency i still see yellow in the tips a tiny bit.
lol good1. a lot of pics have been posted, i know what colors it produces. i havent held anyone elses pieces in my hand to see if its got the same defect as my own piece yet though. i know i have had great satisfaction making my own renditions. awesome color pallettes come through.
as to your previous mention about Abe saying if i wasnt satisfied i could possibly seek some recompense situation, i dont feel that hard done by. i just bought 1/2 pound to try(actually got sent and paid for 12ozs). if its no good, i will just bite it, take it as a learning experience, no worries :)
you keep claiming you love it, so maybe there is hope for the rest of the piece. i am totally reluctant to stick it in the flame cuz its always turned out depressing so far, but some day i will get around to it.
In one of your previous posts you mention you are very picky, then you say you dont find the hundreds of mini bubbles in the piece i posted pics of very distracting. i am seeing two opposing statements here.
i was just bustin your balls. i just meant that disc you made looked good !
i just can't bring myself to bandwagon on the alien tech.
I see the bubbles, and they don't detract too much from the piece. Do you want me to say it looks like s#it? It is what it is. I just think you were expecting a magic color that made your pieces look better just by using it. There is no such color. I am glad to see you are being your own worst critic, this is a great trait to have. I will admit the stuff you got does appear quite a bit bubblier than what I got. Keep at it. The reduction is more distracting than the bubbles to me.
you say the most ridiculous things occasionally. do you actually believe some of what you write, such as that? all i was expecting was less or no bubbles in the factory product compared to my own feeble attempts. is that too much to expect? seems reasonable, but not attained. no biggie, life goes on. live and learn.
See how I prefaced that statement with 'I think' ? That means it is an opinion. I honestly think you were expecting more than you got and you are a little let down by that. Having seen the process live (you were at the DFO, did you watch the tube pulls?) I was well aware of what I was buying and I am jazzed. You are the only person I have seen or read of that is less than impressed with the AT tubing. I am not trying to argue with you, that would be silly. I have gone out of my way to try and give you advice on working this color, you just keep bitching about the bubbles. YES, the stuff you posted appears to have more bubbles than what I got. I also told you how to deal with that and swap it for a nicer chunk. Good luck.
I am not trying to be any ones spokesperson, I was responding to you directly addressing me. You asked me if I believed what I was saying. What kind of question is that. You have been behind a torch, what a year? Year and a half? I have been at it over a decade and have done nothing but try to give you good solid advice. I am sorry you have a case of newbie knowitalls. I keep seeing you bad mouth some of the nicest color that has been introduced in a while, and I believe that is because you got a slightly less than stellar piece. Take Abe up on his offer to swap it for a nicer chunk. Hell, send it to me and I'll hand pick a chunk that weighs the same out of my personal hand picked stash and send it to you. I have no stock in NS, nor do I work for them. Truth be told I actually use more TAG color these days. I just believe you would really love this color if you A. got a choice chunk. B. got to watch an experienced lamper use the tube.
These are my opinions on the subject. I am only replying because I was directly addressed. I will attempt to keep my opinions and advice to my self since you do not seem to appreciate them. Sorry to have wasted your time. Good luck in your lampworking adventures.
