Thanks guys. Here is where I am at as today. I am having some trouble figuring out how to setup my ventilation though. Eventually I would like a hood over the island but I need to get back to work asap. Anyone have any recommendations? The fan over the window is like 15 inches in diameter. Should I just tape some cardboard and then put a 8 or 10 inch flex ducting to the front of the torch? Just looking for a temporary fix for now. Need to melt!

i know you don't want to hear this because i know i would love working at an island, but if your going to have to run that much flex ducting, its gonna add a lot of drag to the fan so you'll need a stronger fan than usual to make up for it. Place looks sick though. To get back on the torch quicker id set up the torch by the window for the mean time. It will save you a lot on the hassle .
I'm thinking of doing regular ducting to the island with a smaller hood and lose a day or 2 of work. If I can get all the pieces prob just a day. The fan kicks ass. Def industrial grade thing is a beast. Your idea is the least amount of hassle thanks. I'll figure this stuff out in the morning.

Roll of plastic and painters tape. Make a hallway to channel the air to the fan. Extremely temporary and flammable but maybe it will work for a couple days till you really build.
Don't handle a roll of sheet metal without gloves kids

Damn ya that shit is gnarly! Hope it doesn't set you back too much
I should be able to get a knuckle band aid on there. It hurts to bend it but I hope by this weekend my ventilation will be in working order. I am taking the sheet metal to a local metal guy to help build a hood. Then I will be all set to hang everything. Hoping by Saturday I will be up and running and these stitches won't hinder my work. Hope it all works out.
hard to see from this pic but I could actually flap the knuckle over. didn't realize how deep it was. I got pretty lucky.

Looks awesome, great job!
Very nice looking workplace.
thanks guys!
im jealous that island is so sick.
What kind of surface is the countertop? Looks like granite...
I believe it is granite. Can I use it as a giant marvering pad? Also I have been really excited to start working again. Here are a few new sherlocks and my first non clear mini tube. Well it's still mostly clear but I have a fumed wig wag base, fumed downstem and fumed horns. Next to order is a hand torch I think. I would like to get better at rigs. Liking my new fumed sherlocks, got a couple more in the kiln. Not sure I like the flat bottom, might just add marbles for a kickstand. I am new to pricing mini tubes, this one is maybe 10 inches. Is $150 too much for retail?
