nice job on the sculpture and maxing out the kiln.
talk about just fitting in...
I had to re-adjust the dragonfly to get it to fit. There's about a mm of clearance in there! Thanks GWS.
so.. what's that in the bottom of your kiln? and how's it working out/how long's it been there?
can't stand dust/scratches from my kiln.
neat wings on the dragonfly!
It's a graphite sheet, i think from glasscraft. It's been there about six months. It will break down at higher temps but mine has held up really well since i garage at 950 and only raise it to 1050 for annealing and don't go over 1080 for striking. 1100 and above it will break down really fast.
Works great for keeping kiln dust off your stuff. Looking at that pic i need to wipe mine out lol!
Thanks, Finally a first hand account for the graphite! :)
new thing I did. it shows magnetic fields using a magnet, mineral oil, and iron shavings. you can remove the magnet from the top.
Too cool! It's like one of those magnetic mustache drawing boards merged with a snow globe.
Haha totally!
Repped. Awesome concept. Thanks for posting that.
a new dragonfly. he is about 10" from wingtip to wingtip. I was pleasantly surprised that the tube of dark amythist i bought turned out to be deppe's darkness or something close to it. I'll be using that in another piece in the near future.
thanks for looking
i still suck at flaring feet.....
A quick pic of some production type bubbies. these are a great way for me to practice techs and still produce a sellable product. and they are fun to make. been really workin on my discs.
Nice work, I did a dragonfly not long before you posted the first and it was fun. Lots of likes but no buyers, mind if I ask how long yours took and what you're tryin to get for it? I find it hard to price the sculpted stuff at a point where I make enough and people want to snap on it, thanx.
Nice work Ryan! That dragonfly is awesome... Luv tha discs you been doing lately
That dragon fly is very cool, I really like the wings.
nice work on that
Just got home from the scoz/ gordman (TA) class. Awesome class and i can't wait to try out the new techs i learned from those guys.
Big props to both those guys. Really expanded on my knowledge base and showed me how to push some of the techs i'm already familiar with to the next level as well as a ton of small tweaks to improve on quality and building large multi sectional pieces.
My kiln is gonna get small real quick.
The dragonfly is sweet. Love the disc in the center.
The prodo bubs are lookin tight as well. Nice lines on the discs. Very clean.
first new marble after the scoz class.
My welder buddy made a stand for one of my stemless bubs. Turned out totally sweet. I'm looking forward to working with him some more.
also a small dry I made the other day. chinese coblat so I was a little worried it would crack in the kiln but it's all good. with a pushed mushie for old school cred.
