i use granite tiles on my bench on top of hardibacker and have never had a problem using it to marver, though i keep the graphite pad clean for that. I dont know if it sucks heat out of the piece more or less than graphite.

I'll have to try and use it as a marver. I just got a dm on instagram someone wants 5 of these. Said they aren't a retailer and is just digging this tube. I'm not sure what tubes go for but this last one is maybe 6-7 inches. With the marble what do you guys think these would retail for? I'm not sure I want to do retail sales yet I think I would prefer wholesale orders. Any advice guys? My tubes are still a little sloppy too

Thanks Jxbey. I haven't sold any mini tubes yet because I am not completely happy with them yet. I have been focusing mainly on fuming lately which I am loving more and more everyday. Heres some recent pics.

I posted these in fume but I am going to post them here as well. What I have been working on lately. I love fuming but I am getting shut down on the prices I am going after here. Maybe it's just because all the shops are stocked for the 420 or whatever but I spend a decent amount of time on these. My spoons are taking between 25-30 minutes and my sherlocks are taking me about 50 minutes if i am in the groove. I am just slow and I am having trouble selling these. $15 for the spoons and $25 for the sherlocks. I have overhead and I am barely making it by. This is so frustrating. I had a shop owner tell me today that my spoons are worth 10 and my sherlocks 15. How do I make these faster? Anyway sorry for the rant but I am putting a lot of effort into these and I have a decent amount of overhead. Blah whatever.

I am so busy. I am selling spoons that are wrap and rake for $6 each. I can make up to 5 an hour.
I sell Sherlock bubblers for $12 each. They take me about 20 minutes.
But I take a lot of breaks and stuff. So it is hard to count a whole day...... It is like $20 hour plus supplies and I use cheap glass mang.... it is all gas costs.
back ordered until august right now..... and I should get an apprentice to help with the orders.
Good for you
those sherloks will get you much more money vending them, its just becasue its wholesale and the store need to make like double, you should get a table at a flea market youd be suprised how much youll make on a warm nice day.
yeah sell on etsy or find different vendors. or find the right balance of work put in vs profit. some local shop pays just as much for an all clear spoon with a wag cap at the end as they do for a nice fume sherlock that i have to bridge and takes me longer. i still make the sherlocks because they are fun and i wanted to get better at them. friend makes dabbers that take him 10-15 mins and sell for 10 each to shops thats what ive come to find is that you have to make prodo pieces and its a drag but it pays the bills i forget who has their motto " making glass pipes to support art habbit" i think JAG but its very true. i seen nomad use to bust out heady shit and questioned why he only does those wrap rake prodos now but i understand. 25 for those sherlocks seems like you could make some profit maybe fume less and rake less clear and use clear accents maybe. around me some shops would pay a little higher they know the work that goes into a piece and are more accepting to pay more because they know its made locally and like supporting local art scene rahter than imports. some shops only buy imports and from huge distributers. try changing the shape maybe so you dont have to bridge them and can make them quicker
that's a JOP quote I believe. I am just sick of shop owners telling me they can get the same piece for half the price. fucking show me and prove it. if one of them would actually show me a sherlock they are getting for $15 I would understand. I had a store manager show me a shitty china import spoon with no shape to it other than bubble at the end and some dots she gets for 6 bucks comparing it to my $10 wrap and rakes. its a different fucking pipe all together. Next time I am shutting my case and getting the fuck out. Apples to oranges man. I can make cheap shit all day that's not what I am trying to accomplish. Fucking aggravating I put 2 layers of fume on my shit, try and explain that to someone who doesn't even know what annealing process is. Nomad I could make the same thing for the same prices. Again apples to oranges. A silver fume that is reduced to white with a china color wrap and rake yah I can do those too for $6 not what I am talking about. I mean no disrespect but stop posting in my thread about your cheap prodo. I get a spectrum of blue to yellow to green to orange pink. Im putting in a little extra time to get these colors layering my fume and raking both directions sometimes 15+ rakes. i probably look like an asshole right now but whatever. stressed sorry for the rant again but it's my thread so it's okay :)
I only use 2 china colors actually. I like the blue and the amber and that is it. I have been using Northstar Ruby red and NS Jade a lot also.
I used to use the northstar reduction colors but they don't come out as nice with the Bethlehem surface mix burner.
I make some other stuff also but not for Jellyfish. I just make wrap and rake for them because it is the fastest thing I can make. They want a lot of product fast. So that is what I am making for them. I like it myself.
I use expensive milli's also. That is color too. I like making the plain wrap and rake more because it cost me less money to stock enough to make a few 100...... when making quanity orders wrap and rake is best.
Your progression thread is inspiring to me and for just over a year, your stuff is sick af imo.
Are you fuming with gold and silver to get those colors or just silver?
Could you give me some tips on not burning up the silver?
Loving those sherlocks and the fume work, nice stuff man!
Thanks guys just sold everything. Montoya I use silver and gold to get the spectrum of colors. Silver will get you blue and gold will get you the pinkish red. I overlay gold over silver on my blank to get the yellows and greens. As far as not burning the silver up I am using my smith hand torch to fume silver and I get a lot more control so my silver lasts longer. Try not to use too much of a reduction flame. The trick to silver is less, you want a yellowish color. I do multiple layers of silver instead of one heavy coat. Hope that helps.
I'm really in love with your fume feather work.
It looks really close to what the "old schoolers" who showed me the ropes make. (Made)
I'm thinking I need to trade you a piece for a piece. P.m. Me, I imagine you will get a piece from me that's worth more than a fume lock, however I don't care about that. I prefer to use glass I did not form.
That last hammer looks like the color changer hammer in the degenrate art flick.
Thanks Boro! PMed!
