Hello, I'm Laurie from Damascus, Maryland. Seems most of the folks who have introduced themselves are from the other side of the states...I always seem to find the good events are happening on the West Coast, lol!
Anyway, I've been working with soft glass since the end of May (took my first class). I'm hooked...upgraded within a month or so to a Minor and bought a BlueBird kiln and have probably spent a good $1,000 on glass and other sundries.
I can definitely see an improvement in my work since I began. My stringer control is getting better, my reducing techniques are getting results and I'm having a great time.
Glad to find another site. I'm already on LE and WetCanvas...found this site through a post on LE about the library.
Laurie.
Hello -
My name is Laurie and I have been torching for the last 3 years. I am a hobbiest but I do sell a bit of my work. I also design jewelry. I started out in soft glass and just recently got into boro. It rocks !!! I dont think I will ever use my soft glass again.
I am married with 2 kids. My husband and I own a construction company and build homes for a living. We are in Canada.
I am having a blast with hot glass.
Hello all. This is Joseph Norrie, owner of Norrie Industries. We carry the full line of National Torch products. I also specialize in engineering and manufacturing specialty toch systems. We are currently working on a new website, glassworkingtorches.com you will be redirected to norrieindustries. My new website will be up and running in about 2 months and will allow online ordering capability for all the products National Produces in addition to my own products and pressure reducing regulators. We are a small startup company based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Great place to live by the way. Just a snippet. I'm looking forward to becoming an active member of this community, as I am very interested in torches and glassworking. Thanks, Joe Norrie. Norrie Industries
how-dee y'all! ryan here....formerly reyeni on the old site. completely starting over after a 2 year hiatus. started in 96, worked full time until operation pipedream, which coincided with other events in my personal life that led to a slow shift from glassblowing to starting a sushi catering biz here in portland, which is still going well. I realized that there was this certain emptiness that i felt from not blowing glass, so i'm back into it with a completely fresh perspective. fortunately, i managed to keep all of my hand tools, regs and glass but i'm working with a loaner cc and kiln. i'll be looking for my own(torch/kiln) in the next few weeks if anyone has some good equipment at a reasonable price.
peace
nice to see you around again! :D
I will look and see if I have anything we can kick down to you. Hit me up if you still have our number, I lost yours. Happy new year!
