Some new stuff

rich, Ill be doing some mibs soon just been having fun trying new stuff..

we made 2 more tube pulls last night, I fumed and clear lined a 1 1/2 inch piece then sleved it and that lil chunk came out to a nice thick piece, ,

i spent way to many hours making this last night and its not that good but, not bad for me either, but i burned the shit outa the dichro so its all grey just a few color spots..

That dichro is hard man. Don't feel bad about burning it out.

The dichro doesn't look too bad. If you throw another layer of clear over it usually that helps out a ton for the burning issues.

kind of an obvious statement, but when you pull dichro, the protecting layer of clear gets thinned out as well. There is also a very significant difference between high quality dichro from DA and stuff like dichro scrap.

Well it wasnt on outer layer,and it wasnt scrap it was a inch by 6 slab, it was laid on black tube cleared over, then lined with some red n white, and encased so I was just roastin the crap outa it.. it was plenty deep under clear

well just b/c dichro is under clear doesn't mean it won't burn out. you prob got it too hot when you first made the tube. nice progress as well.

I beg to differ His buddy used same pull to make a piece the burnout happened during his re-ball making and shaping. Once you get good dicro prep made. The next phase of learning is to use said prep. Crip as you already know dicro is a pay to play learning exp but you are one step closer.

ya the dichro was still sweet in the tube, no burnout, i still have a lil of the tube left bout 6 incher, like i said i was just roastin the shit out of it , I thought it would hold up better sence it was under clear, I know exactly when it happened. it was cool while i made the reballs but when i was shrinkin it down into a lense on the black i was firing it way to hard..

Did you use china black as a base? I have been using china blue or coil built jet as my base I cant seem to beat up on the black tube like I can the other colors.

ya it was the china black tube it cracked a few times while linin it up, but got em all healed up before it was encased..

i used jet black for my coils that i hooked the balls to, just the black tube for the pull,

the other one was a straight stick stack no tube under the color..

I was at a buddy's house and watched them do a bub out of the 38 black I won and it was sweet. They were using silver nitrate then sleeved. Next morning it was in like 5-6 pieces. I heard garaging at a lower temp then ramp to 1050 once at the end. I made quite a few end caps and single section pieces with the black. All in all I am stoked to have it I just think it take's practice just like everything else. I hope you go to Agi crip. There will be a few new faces this year if everybody that say's there going is able to get tickets.

holly crap ya what, i just noticed that the spiral sections with the dichro are the only places i got a few lil cracks, and thoes were the only places with china black in it, the white blue black tube was jetblack snowhite n blue amber purp,, and the coiled color was jetblack no cracks on any of that...

I hope that would be sweet, I been savin for months so i can go to Revere for the next class that i won, its almost time nov 10,

so get that one done 1st, then hopfully make some more money to go to AGI

thats the plan anyway..

Nice progression Skillz.....i personally like to sleeve the dichro tube pulls again before the reball processs. makes it a bit easier. Also the sargents are infamous for reducing <imo>.
I hope to attend AGI for the first time as well and am in the middle of making that happen now. I'll drop offf girlfriend to see her mom and ill be at AGI...lol..yeah i like the sound of it even.

so here is the crap i made last night, wasted hours workin on the clear n wag..

that shit is harder than full color tube for sure, the clear likes moving way before the color side..

so it was going to be much cooler till it hit the bench 2 times and the floor once, kept fallin of the blotube, cracked like 4 times, the mouthpiece was lookin sick perfect b4 it cracked ,, so i decided to spare the shield and put it on somethin else..

time for me to go back to easy stuff for a while i gotta make some cash, wastin to much time tryin new shit, well maybe not..

if you texture up carved shit with lines from a tool it looks better imo

if you start with an open ended tube and make 4 reference dots around the top

its alot easier to get those really clean

Ya the freedom is nice now my only problem is sellin enuf stuff to pay for the liquid bill heheh, but so far so good i have made enuf as of today to pay the 280 for next time and I still have some left well see how long it lasts..

its nice not having to support my self on glass makes it more fun for sure.. one day when im good enuf well see I dont want to make prodo i know that I jsut want to make awsome stuff but I know thats a long way off.

thx G ill try that, , and what do you mean by open ended tube, I striped the tube twisetd it striped it again and twisted back, filled all the spots with a blue i thought was amber but turned out transparet, oops, but i did that then pulled the end off nice and blew it out a bit then fliped it iso..

so maybe i did to many steps ?/

the way i learned to do them was without actually doing a retti

you draw on the spirals and then fill in the gaps

it makes it so the color is all a similar thickness

by open ended tube i just mean like the end of a tube that just has a cut opening

with no change in diameter

that also tones down the inside out effect that can keep fillas from looking really clean

Jacked up a piece last night folded it over n blew it out, actually came out like a shell with a witch ball stringer in the bowl area so its kinda cool..

the mibs are all flat bottom cuz im gona be using em for wine stoppers.

but the backs are comming out better than the fronts, wrong color combo on the dots woulda been better off with clear..

Here some more, English Ivy , for the amber lookin stuff, unexplanium striped on outside for green piece, didnt even want to put a drop of clear on the outside even tho it looks so good when ya do just hate the cracks,,

and a few lil minis after i made one yesterday for my buddy he was gona give me 10$ for it, gave it to him and made some more someone might lie em there cute.. i have been told heheh.

Nice set up crip and I am sure having a extra set of hands in the studio will get the vents in proper order. Its also nice to have help with the oxy bill. Good work I always dig mini's too! Most of the time they sell for the same price if there nice and clean.
