I do have many aliases. I have been known as Mr. Jason. Mer gave me Jitty seven plus years ago. Before that it was the Glasslipper. Also there is the Disco Samurai and finally Spanky. All delightful parts of a perfectly schizo personality. Today is my first month with the addition of Sober after drowning myself for over 13 years. The only drawback is that when I do stupid shit I don't have an excuse. It's just being a regular dumbass not a drunk one.
The filthier the better! Welcome Filthy Brother.

well officially i am a wood sculptor but since glass entered my life 7 months ago i have had a hard time making sawdust without drifting off in some daydream about a glass project.
without this forum i would be no where. as it is i am completely self-taught and most likely will continue on that path for ever. i am eternally grateful for all the advice and help you real glassblowers have to offer.
i live in the hills of tennessee with my wife of 18 years ,dog, and my three cats.
i have a 2000 square foot shop that i do my woodsculpting and now my glass blowing out of.
my hobbies are drag racing (have a low 10 second mustang that i race on weekends) and i am happy to say i will be racing at my 3rd pinks all out event in the end of april at lowes motor speedway near charolotte n.c..
when i am not fixing something on my car i play (poker) mostly texas holdem and a little omaha.
usually play in tournaments ,three nights a week (it used to be 5-6 but my wife said she was gonna divorce me if i didnt cut back).
my last vice it fishing and well i sold my boat a few months back so i am really jonesing for a fishing fix.
i spend most of my time traveling to art shows throughout the year to sell my work . i do work with galleries as well but i have found that nobody can sell my work as good as i can.
i am done rambling on. thanks for being here people with all your input and resources.

Hey yall,
My name is Dane and i just started blowing in Denver with my buddy. I threw down all my cash on a Red-max and all the other goodies, so im kinda forced to work hard and get this stuff down. I blew down at Dallas Lampworking for a couple weeks, and decided i'd keep things goin in CO after gettin the "bug"
I work on more "functional" pieces of art, but im trying to get down marbles and other things as well. Got inspiration from my buddy who is an avid AK collector.. I too collected functional glass art but had to sell it all to make my own..
Thanks for makin this site so great and helpfull,
Happy torchin yall
welcome to the community!

i jumped into boro in may 2008, and took straight off. since then i havent been able to fall asleep.
currently i am a senior in a new england prep school, i dont plan on stopping
What is happening friends, they call me Life. I have been in a Bullseye Glass Soft glass shop for several years maybe 4 or 6....I have pushed soft glass as far as I would like and have been incorporating the torch in my work for 2 years. Now I am into Boro and cant stop. You are sick on here and I cannot wait to learn more from all of you.
Good of you to get down with the sickness
Welcome to the melting pot
Thanks Lurch...and to clarify for the older folk...sick means bad ass....
it also means that you are probably a bad ass (SICK) glassblower....now go take a nap before you bust a hip.
Although I'm always developing my skills, I'm far from being a glass bad-ass.
lol - well thanks for the vote of confidence anyhow!
And where are my manners - Welcome! Great to have you here. Post up some pics of your work (soft and hard) in the pics gallery.
lol
Sick old people RoX!
Been lurking for a while....thought it was time I introduced myself.
names bill, live in central FL. I'm a full time metalsmith, doing ornamental metalwork. Everything from "fine jewelry to house jewelry". Been playing with hot glass for a while but getting much more serious since I found this site...........THIS PLACE ROX.Fwiw, started out with soft glass (beads, jewelry and core vessels) but have been sculpting with boro only for the last 6 months or so. Hope to be able to share as I learn more.
My name's Daryl, AKA MonkadelicD. I apprenticed for 6 months under a pipemaker working with Boro in a shop up in NH a few years ago. I moved down here South of Fort Worth last summer and I've been having the itch to get back into flameworking.
I'm looking for a studio that I can either rent a torch they already have set up or somewhere that has space I use if I buy a torch and all the equipment.
I've found only one place that advertises renting bench space by the hour in Grapevine called Vetro Art Glass. Its a decent place but its $20/hr so I'm hoping I can find something cheaper or at least by the month to be a little cheaper maybe in the <$500 range. I guess I could just build a temporary bench to use at my Dad's house but I'd rather not clutter up his place.
If anyone knows of a place I could do some getting-back-into-the-groove at let me know.
Hey Daryl - welcome to the group - this is a terrific forum filled with many kind and gentle spirits who never use the f-word...:evilLaugh...
All kidding aside, welcome, and hang in there - you WILL get your torch going...it's just a matter of time.
peace,
c
Hello! My name is Erika. I'm not a glass blower but I'm dating one. I love watching and learning and someday hope to get myself started! This seems to be an excellent place to learn and meet other people. So, just wanted to introduce myself and say hi! Have a great day :)
Welcome Erika. Good luck and have fun.
Erika, girlfriend privleges should definately incude some lessons and torch time. Enjoy!
Hello fello lava lovers.
Russell here. Newb to glass work. Been working with soft glass and a single flame torch for a few weeks and lookin to get a proper setup going for boro glasss so I came here for the info. Love the forum so far. I have spent a few years welding and lampwork seems to be one of the closer relatives to welding than other hobbies. Anything molten gets me goin so I cant wait to start espessing my creative side with glass instead of these huge metal sculptures I have been workin on for the past few years.
welcome, many lampworkers use metal in conjunction with their glass. enjoy the 365 day tan man.
Hello, my name is Chris, also known as Lucky. I live in Chicago, first time working with glass was a 2 month beginning hotshop class at Penland in the fall of 08. While there I met Julz, and she got a few of us to come to her house for a week long lampworking class in december, giving me my first experience on a torch. When I got back home I set up a studio of my own. I'm actually writing this from her house, I got 2 weeks left in my 2 month long apprenticeship with her. Before I found glass, I had been into photography for around 5 years, drawing and painting, pottery... glass is unlike anything I've worked with, I cant wait to see where it takes me.
Welcome to the forum lucky.
Do you have any photo's of your work so far?
