Those icicles are a bitch to get good and even aren't they? For every one I make, I end up tossing out about as much glass as I use. The bulbs are pretty nice - do you leave a hole in them at the top or bottom tip?

icicles arnt to bad only broke like 2 outa 20 and they take like 5 min each some are janky but for 2 for $5 no one seems to mind, and yess tiny hole in the end, like pin point pin point if it closes to much but thats all ya neeed..

it cracked the next day, that black tube been cracking on everything i use it on, ill have to try some new stuff

went a lil crazy with the cobalt n fume n amber purps last night, got some pretty cool looking effects, try some diff stuff tonight ..

I have been using the china black quite a bit lately I just stopped doing complex stuff and try to apply stuff then melt in then shape and attach extras. I also don't use it for any prep as in tube pulls implosions or any thing that adds extra warm up and cool downs. As long as I keep it simple and work quick without alot of re-heats its decent stuff. I work it with unob on lockness horns and carbs. I would almost bet you lined that black and yellow tube as a tube pull melted it in and pulled two bowls of of it or more. Also I make black stuff at the end of the day, sitting in the kiln all day at 1050 or higher depending on where it sits in there and how it warms up and down. good luck

How do you make your tubing? do you stick stack or do just lay lines on top of the tubing?

Nice Crip! Yeah that black tube is sketchy as hell,out of 4ft. I got 1 little goblet & a big pile of broken shards. I definatly wouldn't weld any patterns to it or do multi section stuff,it worked well for a straight black goblet though,I guess it works well for anything simple that doesn't lots of need re-heating & welding? Hopefully NS comes out with some jet black soon,for now you can just stick stack black rods,I've done that with good results,except you get some faint lines.

yup the black is a pain. just crank up the oxy on your center fire till it is screaming. works with the mirage anyway.

JR the black was a lined with yellow then 8 mil rod encased, It was a thick monster my buddy wanted thick, only pulled one piece off it 4 inch blank..

all seemed well till the next morning my buddy was there to pick it up and we went out to the shop..

and the kiln was still on -- so it sat in there all day till i was finished with the rest of the days stuff, then anealed again,, probably a bad deal..

made a few more cool combs tonight, check em tomorrow..

Yep I figured it would be one of the two. I had a little problem with it at first but once I found out how I could successfully work it I took it from there. I had a request for the bumble bee look and just went with jet and canary. I love your ap and fume also. Keep it up it looks good. I like to fume the black then dot up with trans colors like sublime or Ice blue or any transparent you have laying around from sample sets and such also a little gold fume then the dots or lines. Try making your black tube stuff last and run your program.

It really helps to sleeve the black tube with 50x5 and pull it down like a tube pull. It really helps with the cracking problems

Hey crip I know you prob know about doing a sleeve they are really breezy easy if you follow a few steps. I will go threw the steps I use.Even if it is something you know it might help others. Your thread is the holy grail for most newbs on the forum. I know when I found it it was a couple of hrs a day read for a week. I really soaked it in.

First thing I like to do is make a collar for the tube out of clear the same size, Just like a stick stack collar.

Then attach the collar to the black and add three dots 10mil back from the black.

Then I Pull a point out of my sleeve tube and make sure its longer than the black tube by a inch or so.
At this time pop them in the kiln for 10-15 min a good soak always helps with cracking esp with china tube.

Then pull out parts drop sleeve over the black tube and hit the dots with a tight flame so they attach to the clear sleeve, this is your bridge and for me is essential in getting a good even clean sleeve.

Next up is melting off your point handle to get the melt going and I like to try and just do about a inch at first and make it even then attach a 10 mill rod and start working back to the dots.

Take it nice and even and try to keep the dot/collar end up and the rod end low work in one inch at a time and marver in.

This info has all been learned threw forum. I know you already have read this info but I nailed my first and second attempt at this method with no bubbles then tried to rush it melting in fast after reading a bunch of stick stack threads that say rage it! and a good solid tube sleeve is more about melting it in even so the air move's out and sometimes if you rage it tell its all over the place you tag a spot. and them freak out I know I did and thats the only ones I have failed. Even my failed ones have had usable section so its a win for me!

Hell Ya JR, thats How i be doin em, well like the 4 or 5 ive done, I learned it from Matts video on here bout sleeving color tube, worked good.. good to have a run down too tho ..

I made a few more last night, and took some pics in progress of the 4 honey comb ball, came out pretty good,

last time i was doing each one separate popin a hole reamin it out then ambering it up then dotin and reducing,

this time i figured id make it faster all at once, so i poped the holes and patched em all first then heated it up and blew it all out, doted it all up then shrunk the whole thing,,

ya actually i just blew holes and reamed em bout an inch or bigger, tehn coiled an amber color on the hole, did that 4 times then heated it all and blew em out thin.

then dotted with clear..

melt all back in and shape..

how long did that pipe take? prep andall

id say a lil over 45 min, im still slow like that

never used gold for fuming yet.

Yup yup striped lines ISO lil silveer some lines bunch of gold more lines even over lappin, flame it hard to burn a lil off then a lil more silver and some dots n shit whatever..

even if its jacked up once its melted it looks pretty good..
