Whoa!!! Now that's fancy, the colors are so well defined!
cool
Here is a custom mug from last week. Purple Lilac too.
Awesome!
man, like others this thread has inspired me to focus solely on fuming haha
my mind is absolutely blown by the work of chubbles, d0prah, cheesenip, hmk, and everyone else thats posted
here is my best attemps yet from my week or two of experimenting. i have been working with glass for almost 2 years but never really did much fuming.

it has been a real bitch! loving it though. i think i may be over fuming, but when i fume lighter it almost all burns off by the time im done :( i have a lot more experimenting to go. off to the lab right now!
also i cant get my silver to not splatter. ive tried every flame and position on my mirage and smith mini but seem to always get splattering/spotting from the silver boiling and flying off. any tips??
let it splatter, and keep holding it in the flame. It should stop after a second. Then you should have a clean fume coming off it. Than put the glass into the fumes flame. Either that or you are using shit silver. Looking good either way. You should throw a surface work section in those hammers somewhere.
thanks for the tip chubbles, i think ive tried that but seem to get less fume after boiling off the silver, but makes total sense
did a couple with wrap n rakes today, and then my last one i cut and flipped. i just really like how fume looks under clear. you got any other surface techniques you might suggest?
silver wrap, gold rake. use bigger pieces of silver and gold. get gold and silver wire. fuck coins
I have been wanting to try the wire I feel like it would be so much easier to use, but I've had quite a few ppl tell me it's wasteful. I think I'll take the advice of the fume mages thank you very much.
(That's you)
I use the coins personally, but whatever works. :D
Gold coins are mush . No reason to spend extra just for wire. ( the maple leaf Canadian gold is a coin, they are the purest )
Silver .... Wire all day long for me. .... I have a silver ounce from Canada , but see no difference in my work.

Just went out and made this so I could join the fun lol.
Silver nitrate is where it's at. ;)
Where do you get silver nitrate? Do you use it like regular silver?
Silver nitrate? Start here.

Thank you!
I found my silver nitrate at my local ceramics supplier. I use it on the end of a rod. Heat the rod and touch the tip to the nitrate. Then fume as you normally would. A little goes a long way. When i use too much it balls up and turns back into silver. I find little balls of it laying under my torch face.
There are other tricks you can use it for as well.
with the gold wire I can use the same size piece of gold every time. With coins I always cut off too much or too little. I'm not sure if I ever tried canadian maple.
