Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello
I'm 22 and from Quebec, Canada. I've been lurking here for quite a bit and I already know I'll love glass working even though I haven't started yet. I've been making organ pipes (smelting, forming and soldering sheet lead/tin) for 1 year now and really like working with heat.
Thank you for all the information you guys share.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Greetings from another Eugene Flame-worker. I was doing a web search the other day to see who the teams were for the Vegas Flame-off and landed here and have been reading ever since! Thanx to all for such a great source related to our trade/medium! I probably will read more than post at this time, I have been out of the loop socially in the glass scene for a long time and feel that its hurt me a bit as far as my progression within the trade/medium. I aim to change that. So thanx again many of you have helped already, reading up on color and catching up on the new generation of torches out there has been great.
I have about 10 years invested in the trade and was a commercial Salmon fisherman before that ( house is paid-off but my body is half-shot lol ) and i like flame working a whole more lol. I have a small one-man shop here and have been jobbing for others for a long time and am considering marketing my own stuff in the future. Again this site has helped me see a few things I needed to be aware of. U Rock! see-ya soon...
Oh-yeah u Eugene peeps remember that old dude by the nickname "tallPaul"? lol-ring any bells?

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Cheers to you all. Being new to the list, I guess I posted my first post in the wrong place :o:. I am just getting started in glass work and don't do well with this interwebbing thing.
Anyway, I am a professional goldsmith living in southern Ohio. I have had my studio in the same location for 25 years, so I do know a little something on how to make a living in the crafting industry and hope I can share my knowledge and experience with you all.
I took a workshop in lampworking and got hooked. This seems to be the place where all the experts hang out, so I will probably have a million questions for you all. I am just setting up my studio and am going to try to adapt 'smithing' equipment to glass work.
Please bear with me when I show my stupidity about equipment and technique and I will try to answer any questions you all have about metal work. My real name is Teddy and I bid you all a good day.

Hey, Lori here, new to torch work. So new that I am still waiting for my goodies to come from sundance glass! Reside in the Houston Texas area. Been reading up on making beads and can't wait to start. My husband bought me a bunch of stuff to get set up. Waiting for my torch - Nortel Major Minor. Looking forward to learning from everyone.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello Everyone my name is Marc AKA Goofba, 33, Detroit Mi born and Raised.
My interest in glass started in 1999. I helped a cool Kid from California (John) set up a studio in a small trailer in Rossville Mi. My interest in the Art has only grown since then. Now some great friends of mine have introduced me to a exceptionally talented Glass artist Drew AKA Bleb in Detroit Mi. Who knows all the in and outs of the glass Empire. This site is and has been a huge stepping stone for me.
Thank you!

My name is Candice. I like to melt. It's a sweaty business in Florida.
I'm a full-time mom (read: feedbags) right now, so it's hard to find time to get on a torch. Soon my little girl will be surfing with daddy, hopefully giving me more opportunity to exploit, er.. explore the studio at my fingertips. I work with Zen Glass, and use one of Dave's (aka barefoot stash) CC's. I'm stuck in a domesticated rut, and here looking for some inspiration; even if I can't be on a torch, I can be on the neighbor's WiFi.
It's cool to see so many familiar names. Small world.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hi! I just joined and I just melted my first rod today. My name is Nicole and I'm an avid glass collector.
And now, I finally get to learn how to use a torch myself. I signed for some lessons with a local artist. I am stoked!!!!
Today, I learned that it's fun, but not as easy as it looks and then when I was cleaning up I learned: hot glass is HOT.... hence the tweezers vs fingers rule. ooops. But at least I got my first burn out of the way.
Next week, I get some one on one instruction so I can make something other than a melted blob. (though I loved my blobs) I'm going to make a pendant.
Anyone who wants to give me any advice on getting started, I'm all ears. I mean eyes.
I'm really looking forward to entering a whole new clear coated world.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello, I'm a 2 and a half year newbie closing the ranks quickly now, having played with 3 coe's and now getting deep into boro. I do stained glass for my day job, but I really live by torchlight. Good to be among you all! Attending the GAS conference in Corning as I write this, and having a blast here.

Hello fellow glassworkers!
Steven here, living in Indy- in September I'm off to Eugene for glass company, beer, nature, school, etc. Indiana really brings me down. I cant wait to go out there!
Ive got a Redmax, and have been active in my studio for 6 months or so. Im a definite newbie. I can do flat pendants, and implosions, still working on vortexes- hard.
I need assistance figuring out oneys, and am doing my best to work at least a few hours a day.
Feel free to message me, however this thing works. I appreciate any feedback. I will post pics of my stuff one day. Take it easy!
Steven

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Greetings, Salutations, and Hola!
Name's Mike, been loving glass since my bro taught me to blow in '03, but I just set up my own shop this year. Blowing/sculpting full time, mostly pipes, bubs, some beads, and I've been reading thru here like a crack addict.
I'm here in Portland, Oregon and there's so much I like to do I'd fill a page rambling on...
If anyone's down to get together and they're in the area, I'm always happy to have a safety meeting :chilling: and shoot the shit with fellow artists! Maybe bust out with a collab or whatever.
Laters,
~Me
