made a fumie last night and pendants 1 came out alright, gold didnt show in the other.

But the fume in this piece came out really cool and actually matched the lati perfect, i like it.

Not sure what I've been doing wrong, but I'm having a hell of a time getting the fume into the tube. Get it pipin' hot, slow the oxy down and bring the silver on in. Just won't go!!! Not sure what I'm doing. And ideas?

you after you fume the edge you have to but a very propany flame that goes up the tube but does not leave a black residue

That's usually what I do, just not working lately. lol - I've got lots of stuff that works one day but not the next.

i still have that happen o me form time to time, Ill get it to hot and burn it off or not put enuf on in the first place,.

Im stating to get the hang of it now to see the coloring before i start condensing it, so i dont over do it ..

i think over fumed looks crappy compared to under and i did that alot..

im having trouble with the i/o fuming too. my fume goes a grosse pee yellow. not the nice blue colors
any suggestions?

to much fume, you can burn it off if you put to much on, but ya kinda got to jsut try a few times to get it right, I still dont have it down pat, but its getting better..

yeah i somewhat got it figured out.
now i need to learn how to coil pot and blow in. totaly sucked a my first attempt

blue amber mixed with a lil disco coiled and blew in on the bottom one.. it looks much better in person..

the fumer is only silver, just as i was heating my gold it poped off somewhere, so i just finished it in silver..

is the red tubing hard to work with?

not to work with but to get the right color out of it is ,,

I didnt even strike the tube this time and its hella dark , but i also didnt get livery spots so i was happy,,

but i do want it to stay a lil more transparent rather than going full dark red..

o yeah. looks cool though.
do you primarily do spoons? or other headies as well

hey 331, it sounds like you might be getting your glass too hot for the silver to stick. also ive found that moderating the temperature of the silver is crucial too. i like to dip my silver into a small reducing (low oxy) flame, it starts to spark, then i remove it for a second or two (keeping my object to be fumed upstream always) and then i dip it back in the flame. for some reason it seems to fume best when the silver is heating up rather than when it is really hot, and you also avoid oversaturating the piece by fuming it slower.

ck - play around with a bunch of shit. I was going to town on the w/r's and now I'm getting bored with those. Switching up to blow ins for a little bit. You'll find too that the more you switch around, the more you start to pick up on the little tricks. You'll be able to see where you can incorporate some of those little move into another application. Start to see the big picture so to speak. Not trying to preach, just don't limit yourself.

Yep the red is kinda cool I picked some up and always try to work it at the end of the day ,the less its worked and the less its kiln really helps it from getting really dark.

i like the blueish black one the best. also like the texture of the other

is that like regular red tubing you used? is it like a Elvis red tubing cause i thought it came almost transparent red...
but what do i know im a noob :)
if i was you and the red was going to turn out like that i'd mix some white or somethin in there and pull your own tubing. that red and white with reversals and whatnot would look wicked.

ya dont make my own tube much but i need to start, , I just dont have the right tube for stacks right now, gota wait till next order..

its red starts trans yellowish.. finishes ugly sometimes, looks better with a bit of fume over the top so i think ill try that later ..

Your shaping is really starting to smooth out.Your work is really taking off. Shape and uninformity to me really makes a piece shine and you are really getting it down pat.

made a few things last night,, fumed mIB came out tight. but didnt photo good, the pendant came out good too I think..

and I also did a tube pull last night and bender backs finally clicked and worked perfect 3 times in a row couldnt believe it,, i think a lil thicker tube made the diff..

I am ready to make somethin awesome, If I can get it to come out, I think i might use a blue amber purp to connect sections.

well see if I jack it up tomorrow..

just had a shit ass time today, grabbed a hot blo tube and proceeded to jack up everything i touched..

I got my can together and thats all thats done,

i jacked up the mouth piece wag it was way to big once i sheilded it so i turned it into a pipe,

coild on a bowl and mouth piece and it was actually lookin pretty tight except it was pink.. and sliped out of my tongs bout 3 inches from the kiln and hit the floor..

so im done wastin time tonight nothing good will come of it..
