not really you get lines and air bubbles when yo do it that way more than if you encase it. you might want to get a vacume to make it eazier and less likely to trap air. just make the color tube and insert into biger tube and then weld the end of the one tube down on the color tube and then hit your vac and slowly work you flame up the tube as it gets sucked in
hmm. i guess i'll try it sometime. i'm set in my ways for the time being, thanks for the tips though. its hard to get the motivation to change what works for ya, especially when you dont actually see people doing it for real; i am slow to learn by printed word alone :)
yea the only way to do it is just jump right in and try it out. might have a couple problems the first time so its better to start small and sleve a piece of 19mm with color on it or something so if it doesnt come out all good you dont waste a bunch of materials and gives you a little practice on the tech
the advantages of vacstacking over laying color down are pretty big in my oppinion.
you dont reduce colors or boil them since they are under clear the entire time and if done properly you will get no air whatsoever in the tube pull. and then there is the line size consistancy as well as number you can sleeve in a larger tube.
i dont know kut, if you are gonna do alot of line work which it appears you are, it will be in your best interest to learn the vac stack method.
with your kobuki you can make enough prep in one day to make 50 of your pipes. that is using 50 on the out and 25 on the in with 15-16 rods of color.
once you get it like alot of these guys do and can go to the big tube like 70 or so, you can put a shitload of color combos in.
out of a 4 inch section of color, i get about 20-22 inches of tube that is 25mm thick and super thick walls.
i know i know, i seen the thread on this and recall n3rds first try the bastard, shit looked pristine, and it was like 5 feet of it or something. i gotta get a vaacuum first, but someday i'll do it i guess. theres no one nearby to goad me into doing anything advanced. i have to push myself. and i never have much free time, always behind on orders, so i dont have much time to make cool stuff for fun, or learn new tricks.
You don't need to buy a vacuum at all. Eusheen just sucks the air out of his. I do tube encasements for more stuff than just lined tubing, I use either a venturi vac or just suck the air out. A venturi vac is super simple and not too hard to make. Just three welds a small chunk of 9mm and a small piece of 15mm. Use the search function, there is some good info on here. Making a working venturi is pretty fun, and once you have made one all you have to do is hook it to a swivel and a chunk of hose and blow through it.
ya thats one of the things holding me back, i dont really fathom how to suck air out of the a chunk of tube while working on it without some kind of swivel or something, and i never used a blow tube or have one or any parts for one. when i get the initiative and time i will go to the appropriate thread and re-absorb all the information up, and do it right, i hope. i dont really feel advanced enough to do vac stacks yet, but i want to. i prolly could :)
(in Rob Schneiders voice) YOU CAAAAN DOO IT!!! Swivel is only a few bucks (8-12?)

ya i know that thread thats the one i mentioned. i dont really understand it all exactly, till i see it done, or try it myself i guess. i'm foggy on a few things. it'll come to me, someday.
If you ever get down to the Euge I'd be happy to show you a thing or two. I use the venturi to do sleeving on cheese grater encasements and lined tube. It makes life easy.
thanks man, i actually met you down there at the DFO.
here's a lil different maybe..

i like doing the encasment with rods too...i can get good steel wool accents with that tech that are harder to do in a vac stack.
We met at the DFO? I met sooo many folks, sorry if I don't remember ya. It was a crazy couple of days. What did we talk about?
Problly dicks in mouths,, the cum guzzlin gutter slutz you are, you know the normal..Quote:
