EX2000 oxygen filler

Well while you are considering things........

A Homefill II / EX2000 by manufacturers specifications requires an input of 0-2 lpm, at 14 - 21 psig.

Using those figures you "should" be able to use two compressors for a single 5 lpm oxy con or four compressors from a 10 lpm oxy con. 5 lpm oxy cons usually have on output pressure around 10 psi, 10 lpm oxy cons are usually 15 - 20 psi. So theoretically you could run 4 compressors off of one good oxy con.

Also these Homefill units can easily be garnered for $500.00 or less used. The man I got mine from had the compressor and an oxy con for $500.00. He alos stated he could duplicate the setup for that price by the next day.......
These units require a medical license to sell and a prescription to buy. Unless you get them used, there is not a great demand for these units and sellers often get frustrated. Ebay does not allow used oxy cons to be sold. It can be difficult to find a buyer given the circumstances.

$650 is really high for shipping on this. $100 is what I paid through UPS

I did have to pay the shipping to get it fixed, there and back.

The only maintenance you have to do is clean the filters on both machines regularly. Once a week or so.


On a side note, while the compressor was being fixed I hooked the center fire up to the oxy con to save gas. The flame was not very powerful but dam,the savings are great. Instead of going through a tank or more a day, now its more like 800-1000 lbs. Granted I do a lot of stuff latley that requires just the inner fire for most of the piece but I had no idea half my gas was used on the inner fire alone. Crazy

I brought one home from Tucson a couple of days ago. I work in spurts flameworking, coldworking, and doing admin and such.

I had a few questions that I could not get a solid answer from. Mainly does it work well at high altitude, I live in Albuquerque. So, Ross being the good friend that he is let me test drive the unit. If it works at this altitude Im stoked, If not I send it back. How could I go wrong.

I actually expected it to take a lot longer, to get to pressure or purity, considering the altitude, above a mile above sea level. All of the generators I have tried out here breath and are not usable at this elevation in my opinion.

I timed and logged the progress, as I was not thinking it would preform here, and wanted some answers to report back to Ross. Much to my surprise I just hit the 24hr mark and the tank is at 1400psi. Rather impressive I think.

I plan to link 4 together and keep the combined pressure lower but the volume as high as I can get it, keeping up with me. I am under the understanding the most time is getting to the higher pressure. I will let you know where it plateaus as far as efficiency. I own my tanks, so if I can figure out how to daisy chain enough, and split the pressure, I think I can make it work.

It was a hefty price tag, but I do see a lot of benefits. I just returned from doing the Tucson show and my liquid tank was blowing off the whole time, compressed air would be at the same pressure as I left it. I hope I can get this to work, get rid of dewar rental, delivery, etc, and have oxy at my leisure. Unless I have a major deadline, being out of oxy can be a blessing. Giving time for photography, contacts, emails, postage, and all the other things that it takes to hustle the glass.

Couple of thought right off the top of my head.

If you get to keep the 20' metal cargo container that it comes in, that is a hell of a deal. Just cut out a place to weld a metal door in, some ventilation and electricity and it will be worth every penny you pay for freight.


I still offer to duplicate this system for $2000.00 and for the other $650.00 (where do you live?) I might even deliver this system. I will hook it up, fill your first tank and even smile when we part.

How many oxy tanks do you own?
What type of environment do you plan on using this in?
You are aware that this equipment is designed to run in a climate controlled environment. Compressor needs between 50 - 95 F @ 20 - 60 % relative humidity.

i think i'll beat you to the punch :p

this is how i connect 4 bottles together, the regulator side has a knob before it so i can fill and not have pressure on the line. i'm not sure why i put that valve there now that i think about it. all these fittings are available at most welding shops, you might save some coin by going googling brass supplies in your town.

Thanks for the offer on the tutorial. I know how to link them together, I was more needing to figure out how many bottles I need to link up in able to keep up with the work that I do. I think that is more trial and error now that I know the fill time. The pictures are similar to how they will be linked together, thanks n3rd.

I have built a system that utilizes 2 M-20 concentrators, a laboratory vacuum compressor and a 29 gallon holding tank. I compress the o2 up to 100psi. The system shuts off at 100 psi and turns on at 80 psi. This system lets me run a Phantom or a Barracuda at 100% for well over 2 hours at full blast!. That’s plenty of time to complete most projects. On a full day of work I have never run out of O2 as I rarely utilized 100% output for extended periods. Usually a project is broken up into periods of variable amounts of O2 use so when I am doing detail work with a small flame the system is building back up to 100% and shutting off.

Why deal with going to Tank pressures of 2000psi + when 100psi will do.

man i want more specs on that system glass4$....it's making me drool. looks way simpler than anything else. wonder if it could run a cc for a decent length of time.

if he can run a phantom for 2 hrs full bore then a CC would not be a prob. i too would like the specs on that system. it looks like a homebuilt pro8. the pro 8 does not fill tanks either but has a holding tank similar to glass4$'s. specs pleeeeassseeeee!!!!

Since I've had nothing but bad luck with my LOX this year, this oxy filling system is looking more and more "right up my alley", but have some questions for those who do own one already.

How noisy is this set up for a constant?
How many greenie tanks should a person own to be filling (sure this is related to how much a person torches, but a good start would be?)
And the tanks that hold 2-2200, are those J or K tanks? (the ones I usually rent when out of LOX read 1800-2000 when I get them)
I'm at sea level. Does that affect the purity at all?

^^^the ones you get at 1800-2000 are the ones being used in these systems. like n3rd said more tanks and fill 1/2 rather than full is faster and better on your systems life span. 4-6 tanks I imagine would be ideal.

There is no national standard letter size for tanks, letter designations are usually Praxair but other companies have letter designations that differ. What are the actual physical dimensions or what company do you deal with and what does your last invoice for "greenies" say you were billed for?

any one looking at the ex 2000... avoid that company like the plague... mine went down for the second time in two years and they wont honor the 3 year warranty... the first time it got sent in they did nothing to it kept it for three months and returned it working. they said they didnt do anything to it and it was fine. this is the second time it went back and they say its not broken just worn out and that isnt covered by the warranty and itl be $600 to fix ... its been a month plus of back and forth calls to no avail.... he tells me he wants me to be a happy customer but hes not honoring the warranty. im filing a complaint with the better business bureau since its my only recourse. so thats my experience with extreme oxygen :(
