youre right i should do that, but you know when the colours are there, and i have only some full lenght rods(like 4haha) the other colours are from sample packs, i just have to add them, i really like playing around with them and you can learn much cause northstar and ga have theese little booklet included where they say how to work specific colours, and thats very interesting
and i really wanna make colour patterns so that wouldnt work with just clear but overall i think ill take your suggestion and practice with only clear more

Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
Practicing with just clear will save you lots of money in the long run as well as you'll learn the flow of the glass and shaping without wasting the expensive color. :)

Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
whenever i try something new, i always do it in clear first. its really great for producing prototypes that dont have many variables, so you can see where problems lie and what you can do. theres never a "bad color" or "stiff color" there to trip you up.
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
Hey Regis, what happens when you do a wigwag pendant or a vortex pendant in clear? :D Although I would agree with you in most cases
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
I really love your mushrooms!!! They are called 'paddo's' here
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
Looks Good Keep it up! I really like the turtle pendants. When making your hoops spend a little more time on them. On your torch you want a small flame so all you are controlling is the flow of glass in the hoop. 4 steps to get the flame I m talking about
First use only Red get flame about 8 to 10in.
Second tune flame in with blue knob get flame really pointy but don't make it to noisy.
Third use a little Green to bring flame under control you'll will see the flame come back to the face of the torch.
Fourth use Red Knob to adjust size of flame. Over all length of flame 6-8in
Once you have achieved this type of flame put the bad areas of you hoop into the flame and get red hot pull out of the flame and watch the glass move you should be able to control the flow by turning the pendent in the direction you want the glass to flow, gravity is you friend, just work on specific areas like on side of the hoop let it cool a little before you start on the other side then go to the top. I remember my mentor telling me that sometimes it takes as long to make the hoop as it does to make the entire pendent.
Re: steaks thread - newbie progression
thank you very much for you comments, i think the more i practice the hoops/loops the better i will get at them like most of the other things, i really learned that i have to practice buttseals and t seals , im happy that i have made my first implosions without crackicng the piece after it has cooled
i am looking for a kiln now but its hard to find one in germany , i like the paragon one wich is often used
and then i think ill buy a bigger torch
kind regards steak
