maybe they were trying to soak you?
Nice work man. The guardian is like a mixture of a Beholder and a Dufflepud.
Can't believe I missed the slyme piece. Great texture on that one. I especially like the bases for the horns. Nice detail.

Ghetto lap wheel is ghetto......but effective.

is that a hole saw? nice man whatever works right
that reminds me of a geode super badass
^ Forgot to oil the lapped pieces before taking pics, they look tons better oiled.
Real nice. Lovin the cold worked stuff
lovin that pendant and chillum
Yo man are you using regular wet dry paper on that flat lap? What grits are you using? Are you polishing with cerium oxide or something else? I`m just curious as I have been doing some the hard way on a glass plate with grit. You look high tech compared to what I`ve been doing ...lol
^ yeah wet/dry paper from hardware store. Regular stuff turns to goo, has to be wet paper. Wears out fast though, I can see how diamond discs are the way to go. Lapping from 180-300-600-1500 then polished on my bench grinders buffing wheel with jewelers rouge. Gives a semi gloss finish, like when you look from an angle instead of a reflection its matte like a LCD TV screen. A little mineral oil rubbed into it shines em up even nicer.
Had to scratch that itch....and now that I've done it im going nuts....the ghetto lap sucks balls and taked too long, but it was exceedingly successful at creating a new addiction for me. I dunno if im gonna do that again though till I have a proper lap wheel. Whether I finally build one or just break down and buy one is undetermined for now. I have most of what I need for a build so......
Nice stuff, I like the ghetto lapidary too. Will look good next to that soup can forge.
You started with 180 grit? That's pretty ballsy. I used to do paint/body for a vehicle importer, we got an SUV in from japan that the windows and sunroof were etched so bad from acid rain you could catch your fingernail on it. I have a hutchins wetsander, I think I used 600-800-1000-1200-1500-2k to flatten the windows, then we brought the shine back with brown & white dry compound, autosol metal polish, and farecla g3 and g10. It was expensive, and I'd never want to do it again.
I really like your gaurdian piece.
Nice ghetto lapwheel, I'ma try that til I get a lap going or buy one. Just got some badass painters safty goggs tonight, they're comfy as shit. Definitely need em with one of them.
I like that effect on that pinchie fo sho. Thanks for the ghetto rig
Look on eBay Jake, I see them especially the 6 inch ones go under a hundred bucks. I am going to check right now
