Hi Mike I'm interested in getting a pair of your glasses after reading pages and pages of threads in these forms (did not expect to stay up this late researching glasses lol) their more expensive then I wanted but I like my eyesight I'm not sure which shade I want tho the 203,250,or 300 I've used Philips shade 3 and that was pretty good I'm using Diddys with flip down 3s I think I'm kinda new at this but I wanna get a new pair soon so yeah not really sure what I need but I don't want them to be too dark if possible but I want to make sure I'm protected. Thanks

If you want to stick with shade 3, choose the AGW-203. Note that my shade 3 is a true shade 3 and probably slightly darker than what you are used to.
The AGW-250 is also full coverage, and is available in shades 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8. We can do shade 10 on special order.
The AGW-300 has no shade per se, as it doesn't use a visible light filter. It uses a special "clear" IR filter that blocks all of the heat energy.

Hey Mike so I've been looking at your glasses more and I can't decide what shade I need for what I'm doing I'm kinda new to glassblowing I've only used the Philips 3 and not my shitty 3 flip down will your 3 be enough to shield my eyes? Does 3 work good enough for color or would a 3/5 split be better? I'm just scared the 5 will be way to dark but I want to be protected also I'm look C2 frames and I see there is a medium and large and yeah idk which I need I saw there was some sort of measurement but I don't wear glasses normally so I'm not firmiliar with the sizes Thanks a lot for the help
Ps I saw alot of people got the 1/3 and 2/3 split vs the 1/2 split do you have a preference I feel the the 1/2 would be better but one again not use to wearing glasses

Regarding the 1/3 or 1/2 split, I think it depends on where you have your torch positioned. At first, I found that having a 1/2 split made me have to touch my chin to my chest to see through the top part, and it was uncomfortable. Then, I put my torch on a block to add height, and it fixed that problem and gave me better ergonomics overall.
Re: Aura Visual Concepts standing forum discount
Appreciate the response I also have my torch up pretty high my tables pretty tall so hopefully the means 1/2 would be good for me?maby lol I'm so confused about which glasses to get and I don't have enough $$ to make the wrong decision lol

If you can position your torch so that it's easy to look through either half, I'd probably go with the AGW-325 on top (clear IR filter - no shade). It'll help you do detail work, read heat in colors that don't glow much (like clear), recognize colors, and navigate the studio. You'll have to be mindful to not look through it when you don't need to, though, and it can be difficult, since you'll naturally want to see better in the moment. Some people get fully shaded lenses (no split, just shade 5 or whatever) because they can't overcome their natural tendency to want to look over the shade.
Re: Aura Visual Concepts standing forum discount
I used some 1/2 split lens googles for a few months, and I had a real hard time getting used to the split. I was struggling with the position of it mostly, it was right in my natural line of sight. If I was gonna do splits again I would probably want 2/3 on the bottom 1/3 on the top. I can't really say anything about which lens though, I'm still torn on that before I order mine. I've used philips shade 3s, and 5s as well as the goggles which I think were a 3/5 split. The 3s seemed to light, and the 5s I think are 2 dark. I usually only work for a few hours at a time, and usually my eyes are very fatigued so I want to figure this out and get better glasses. I have been kinda thinking the shade 5s are making me strain to look at the glass, and that could be part of my issue.
Mike would it be a big deal to get a comparison picture of the shades next to each other. I didn't see anything like that on the website, and was thinking it might help people be able to decide which will be best for them. Maybe each of your glass shades and a philips shade 3 just for comparison since so many people have used them when they get started.

Our shade 3 is a true shade 3 welding filter with FULL IR filtration. As far as location of the split is concerned, yes, most folks order 1/3-2/3 however a fair number order the 50/50 as well. It just depends on how you personally work.

We fully warranty our lenses against manufacturing defects but not abuse. Same with our frames. Exchanges must be made within 30 days of original sale date (based on date of receipt by you of the eyewear).
We do not warranty frames that are supplied to us, that is your responsibility. We will make our best effort to ensure that they are in good condition and suitable for use.

This is one reason why we developed the AGW-325 filter, it offers the "clear" IR filter on top and a welding shade (of your choice) on the bottom. You work your clear and/or colors until they begin to flare using the upper section, then switch to the lower section.

We've tried this in the past, but have not been able to get good pictures that truly represent the shades.
Most of this is subjective, based on the individual user, not objective, based on the lens. Everyone works differently, with different color mixes, different torches, and different task lighting. There's just no way to take that kind of mix and make comparisons between the filters. Sorry.
Re: Aura Visual Concepts standing forum discount
Thanks for addressing the question, I can totally understand your reasons.
Re: Aura Visual Concepts standing forum discount
thanks Mike! a couple months ago you did an awesome job making me split 3/5s in my fitover frames to wear over my glasses. They are working out great. You are the protector of eyeballs!! :twitch:
