Wrap and raked bubblers are the bread and butter though.

ever throw one of those ornaments on a scale?
im curious how much one should weigh.
ive made a few, and sometimes i think they weigh too much, like they will make the branch sag.
some of them i can smash together without worry of breaking, so thats a plus.
i guess its bad for business if they drop and dont break, no need for replacements...

i dont know how to judge thickness but i make mine as thin as i can without distorting them during the final steps. 3mm sounds about right tho.Quote:

i feel ya on that the 99ls is too small for me now, i feel like i grew out of it earlier this year. 9 inches is pretty short for most of the stuff i make other than spoons and such. and i like to do a lot of prep work before i fire up the kiln but i can only fit enough for 2 rigs comfortably.
is it just me or does glass get light surface scratches really easy at annealing temp? if my pieces ever touch each other in there it seems like it always leaves a faint mark you can see when you shine a light on it. so ive been trying not to have as much glass in there so i dont bang the pieces together by accident.
5 or 6 hammer bubbs or sidecar a day in it no touching. I pile the spoons up and they are fine but anything involving welds or flame anealing can't touch unless it's annealed.

Working 7 hours including kiln strike and soaking then everything can be shut off and I can leave for the day isn't bad.
