Hit the studio after work for a bit. Made this honeycomb pendant first. I like it but not happy with my bails yet. then some more spoons which I didn't photograph.

Looks like it turned out well! The depth is very nice! I can't wait to get my hood setup so I can start fuming!
Thanks AC! Fuming is awesome, I am getting much better at it now. I don't have a hood but my ventilation is and nice pulls everything out fairly quickly. That pendant is amber purple with cobalt blue backing, I have yet to try fuming pendants but would like to try it soon.

Nice! Amber purple is awesome. I have some double amber I'm trying to baby cause I don't have much left and I know how versatile it is!
So to make it you... coil potted amber purple blew it out thin dotted up condensed down then throw a loop on? I've been wanting to try that but have been a little hesitant cause I don't want to use so much color on something I may very well bugger up

AC that's exactly it. After I condensed it I backed it then punty up to the back, put a lens on it. Punty up to bottom and made the bail. Give it a shot it! It's rewarding and you don't use that much color. Good luck looking forward to checking yours out!

Heck yea man killing it! Love the dot setup on your bowls especially the top one nice varigation of colors. And good job on the monkey certainly can't mistake it for anything else
Thanks dude! I don't know what color it is I think it's one of the Chinese colors, come clear but when in an oxidized flame gets these nice dark ruby reds. Had fun making the monkey too! Thanks for looking.

Made a couple pendants tonight. Honeycomb cracked in half I'm not a fan of unobtanium. Second was another fumed silver wacky one backed in lake green I believe.

Unobtanium is one of those colors that like to be real punky when encased. esp deep in a honeycomb. Basically most colors with that sparkle in em don't play the best with deep encasement under clear.Quote:

Are you fuming outside or inside?
I'm only fuming my spoon pipes and the squiggly pendants, the honeycomb pendants I was using amber purple and butterscotch

I can't really open up my tube to fume the inside. Having trouble doing it on my minor.

Thanks for the tip I'll have to give that a try. I have one month left at my studio and I am gone. Problems with the landlord have created a dilemma I must walk away from. I will be removing myself from the situation come July. I hope to find another place, hopefully cheaper I can melt glass in. I hope this is just a speed bump.

Got a chance to melt after a couple rough weeks. Having a photography background I decided it was time to properly document my work. I made a successful wrap and rake and an IO frit spoon. Pretty happy and trying to stay positive. Thanks for looking.

Been so busy lately but I am trying to get as much time in as possible. Trying to get the IO frit pipes down, it takes sooooo long on my minor I am sick of it :waiting: I'm saving up for a new torch. Tried my hands at another honeycomb pendant. I didnt melt all the clear dots all the way at the edge and it came out like a real honeycomb shape and was pretty sweet but when I backed it and added a lenses it smoothed it out too much, couldn't get it round after that
either :/
Also I have switched to using using blow tubes but after I make my straight seal there is so much condensation in the blowtube the frit sticks to the inside of the blowtube. Any tips on how to avoid this? Just let them sit and dry? Stick with pulling points? Thanks for looking.

How many lights? Using a cyclorama or a light box? Full spectrum lighting?
I love photographing glass almost as much as I love making it,and I need to get a legit lighting setup ASAP.
Also mad props on making that ISO frit spoon on just a minor,looks way better than any of my spoons.
Thanks Ryan. My setup is pretty basic, I made a light box out of a cardboard box and a ruined white button down dress shirt (attended a wedding last week and had a few too many). It's flimsy but it gets the job done. I use two Yongnuo YN560IIIs and a Yongnuo RF603N to trigger them. Here's a pic, super simple one light on each side. It's hard to show the edges of an IO or clear piece using this setup and I will be using flags in the future to bring out the edges of the glass. When I do I'll post a pic of the whole setup. I will be making a more permanent setup in my studio but this does the trick for the time being.

Awful day at the studio. It was one of those nothing is going right days in general. Called it quits after a few hours of fucking up. Stressed out going to try again when I am in the right state of mind. Can't wait to upgrade my torch, I am running out of patience on my minor. Shit can't handle anything I am trying to do. Next pay day I might just order a new torch.

So I haven't had much time in the studio lately. My gf just gave birth to our son 2 weeks ago so things have been pretty hectic. There is a studio tour in my area next weekend of the 19th and I am trying to get some pendants made to sell. While I am not featured in the tour, my friends gallery and studios will be on the tour and I might be selling some pendants at their gallery location. Managed to get some hours in lately and made these. My apologies for the crappy iphone pics. Some honeycombs and implosions. Thanks for looking.
