Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I'm currently living in Appomattox, VA. Originally a D.C. native. I've been lampworking for about 9 years, and still loving it! I do mostly soft glass, but have played around with boro. I'm sure I'll get into that more one of these days. I have a Firebird torch, and and Oxybox. I'm sure I'll learn a lot on this site.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello all, my name's Mike. I was actually attending Harley Davidson mechanics school in Florida, March 2007 when I met a lampworker. We hung out for a while and then I was invited to try working at the torch myself. 6 weeks later dude showed his true colors and that relationship ended. Now I'm back home in Wisconsin and working with a new friend nearby one day a week. My tax return is coming, and thus my own studio. I'm a newbie for sure, but glass has got me... My former dream of becoming a motorcycle mechanic was quickly dropped. Can anyone blame me? Mechanics are constant and predictable, glass is infinite.
(haha listen to the newbie ramble!!)

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hi all,
Started working with glass when i was about 10 and stopped about 20, was side tracked by them females, school, and life in general. I used to do several fairs, festivals etc.. Just made it all seem like work, I realized I liked making the glass but not the hassels in selling it.
I started working glass again when I was about 26 then put it up again when my brother got divorced and needed a place to stay and I had to give up my studio space. He's been out for about 2 years (my wife is VERY happy) and I have my studio set up again. I am now 36 and I am trying to teach my son, I'd have better luck if the was a flameworking game for an X-Box, LOL! My wife has started making small pendants and beads for fun.
Never did much with tubing or color, always solid or spun clear boro, animals, ships, etc.. Trying to learn how to work with colors now and might start playing with some tube. I personally have no use for pipes or spoons but I think they are fascinating pieces of art and have no issues with those that want to make them or use them, it's all good.
I am definately no expert, and probabl never will be but it's a great hobby, and a lot of fun.
This is a great site, lots of good info.
Have a happy!

Linwood-32 just starting but have been a glass piro since 7 when mom took me to Jamestown...have taken a beginners Glassblowing class...intend to teach self work w/flame.
I had to start selling stuff for folks to fund this addiction.....even though I get veteran disability....lol. But thats cool as I have had a decent amount of luck on ebay.
I love the fact there is a location such as this as it'll help me learn from others.

Lee, 39, just outside Grand Rapids, MI. Just getting into it, waiting on a kiln to be delivered this week. Looking forward to seeing where all this takes me. Got hooked as a kid watchinga guy in the mall blow glass, but never did anything about it until now. Still trying to figure out how to afford/justify all the equipment. :)

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello all,
I am new to the world of flameworking glass but looking forward to it. I have ordered a mirage (which will be in next week) and also in the process of setting up a studio.
I am glad I found this web site and have been looking it over for the past few weeks trying to learn all the basics about studio setup, safety, and tools. It has been full of great information.
I'm sure I will be asking alot more questions in the next few weeks...Thanks in advance for all the help..
