barry davis 31 AKA blue barry AKA caydence AKA volta on the bench since 96 on the lathe since 01
hey I'm drihos. Been playing with fire since I got a magnifying glass. First time i saw boroworking was in 97, watching Ferret do trail and rakes in a shack in Humbolt. Apprenticed in a hotshop in 98, got hooked up on a minor in 00 (miss ya Dobbs!) Moved back east in 03 bought a redmax, set up shop in the garage and then worked as a carpenter and a tree climber (the local market was pretty weak) till I messed my back up. I guess the multiverse would rather challenge me on the torch...could be worse! Just wired a bartlett 3k to my stinkin' infinity switch (will post some pics) listening to my cryo tank vent the whole time. Love this forum! Gotta try some vacstack, wish there was a way to hook a pedal to the redmax. Took a class with Mickelson in 07, pestered Bandhu on the phone a couple of times, and just signed up for two weeks in Corning with Emilio! I'm 37, I play cello, guitar, and hand drums, I bomb hills for kicks, and my dreamgirl is a Mirage...
And in my spare time, I like to dry-hump cheerleaders...
Carv here, new to the torch, based out of ontario canada, im a townie at heart and love to melt glass and help buddies make glass gifts.

I don't know very much about torch-work but have always been very interested and now it's something I want to pursue and hope to learn a lot here and maybe meet some great artists!
Hi, Justin here. I've been lamping for about 4 years now, and reading this forum for a couple. I've gained a wealth of knowledge and ideas from this forum. Thank you all for sharing so much!
Newb here, thought I would introduce myself. I've already learned allot reading on here and got a few books ive been hearing about. About to bite the bullet and purchase equipment. Hopefully I'll be posting pics of my work soon!
been on the torch working with other mediums for over 12 years.. always wanted to give glass a shot, and finally took the leap! im a major glass collector and have a solid appreciation for the art. look forward to learning from everyone here :)
much respect
Yo, i like all clear scientific ass shit.
Can we start banning or at least infracting people for really stupid names?
I think she's offended because your name lacks balls..
For a community of artists I think the recent names have been lacking creativity, and yes, pussy shit is downright stupid. Just like blunts4life or whatever it was, yourhighess, ilovetotoke and so on. I am betting most of what you contribute here will be useless. I dare you to prove me wrong.
Someones a little uptight lately... sorry to offend you but i think I'm protected by my first amendment rights, and well lets face it, to get an account here you have to be approved by a moderator/admin, and it was approved with no problem. I was planning on sharing and being involved in this community seeing how I have shelled out like 2 grand on equipment and glass in the last 6 months and love working with this shit.
Aymie this site is, and has always seemed to be, filled with stoners (just being honest here people) who partake in illegal activities... so is the name Pussy Shit really that bad?
Hope to see some of you guys around and learn/contribute.
Oh and Kato your pretty sweet, been reading though a lot of your threads.
If you contribute, that will be awesome. And honestly, I find the name less annoying than those that directly pertain to illegal activities.
But this is hardly just a site full of stoners.
Hope you love it, because two grand is just the tip of the iceberg.
Welcome folks! And yes, 2 grand is the tip of the iceberg.....the other 75% is underwater.
lol tip of the iceberg indeed, got my lathe fund at about 1/25th of what i need, and maybe if i stop treating all my graphite tools like steel ones (aka dropping them on the ground repeatedly) i might save some money
Just a note, The 1st amendment protects you from the government censoring you... not a private message board.
This site is absolutely not about illegal activities. Please leave ASAP if you think that or are going to post about anything illegal. And, sexual/inappropriate/distasteful names have nothing to do with that and are a separate area of our policies.
I am lovin the name change. I think it should stay that way, it's fun, and I bet it will get you some creative suggestions.
I drop my tools all the time. The bench grinder in our garage is my friend. Messy, but handy.
Also, if you break a graphite rod you can shape the end to use as a signature stamp. All my broken rods have butterflies I forget to use on the ends.
My name is my last name. Lame I know but I like it... Just saying...
So for the sake of this thread:
My name's Ryan and I'm learning how to make glass stuff at Ourglass Studio in Nelson BC.
I've dabbled in all sorts of artistic mediums and I've decided glass will get my full attention.
Holla, Danny here from CG, AZ...Been in the pipe industry for 15yrs....I mess around with the torch but never really gave it a go...Now here in the coming wks will be hopping behind the torch..Always been amazed on glass creations n hoping I can too get there one day...Wish me luck
:D
isn't that the whole point of approving members and making them wait to post when the register, so people don't have stupid ass names? just saying...
badass idea, ima shape the end into a letter probably, stamp it into some stuff,
ill stop posting in this thread lol, getting way of track
Hi, Foster here. Got maybe 40 hrs on a torch under my belt - looking forward to paying dues, burning and cutting myself..... and eventually banging out some heady pieces. Working now on getting my shop together . 30yrs dumb. Spenard Alaska. PEACE
Hello,
I'm new here. Aaron is my name. Looking for a creative outlet and glass seems to appeal to me. Looking forward to hearing everyone's input.
Ana here. I've learned some stuff from Glasstafarian for 5 years now. Glass & its useful paraphanlia projects have been both a creative outlet & a way to pay the bills for me.
I've been Sikly, Glass by Ana, a couple other things, notably a PIA. ha!:evilLaugh Pain IN the Ass - i'm kind of a stickler with my long learning curve
This is officially my first post. my other post in the 9-11 was deleted 'cuz i was logged out without knowing it & i had to get back to "work" instead of posting again- yes i love glass so much that's how i think about - very very difficult but not a real job.
i thot for a second this would be a way more benign thread than the 9-11 10th WTF thread, but i can see that its not! Whoa, its just my name. Catch me on a bad day & i might say some stuff like that too. Then again i don have a more attention grabbing name.
Anyway, i'm here in New Mexico - firing up the torch 5 times/ week. Its been real fun to read this stuff...looking forward to more.
Hello all. Ben Naiman here, been behind the torch since 99. Grandpa Snodgrass had me hooked young
^Welcome to the honorable offspring of Bob the man.
Glad to see you on here, Ben. Had a blast hangin' at AGI with ya'.
You'll fit in just fine :chilling:
