Re: steaks thread - progression
Hey steak really enjoying your progression thread, you're killing it with some of those pieces man!
Have you thought about getting in touch with Roor? Not a huge studio but they might have space for a talented guy like yourself once you are done with your course. I know a guy that works with the owner so if you are interested let me know and I'll see if I can put you in touch.
Also in the UK here so if you ever fancy doing some teaching I love travelling and blowing glass haha
keep it up man

Re: steaks thread - progression
thank you very much for all the kind words
actually i got in touch over some scientific stuff with the son of the owner of roor, and he was surprised that someone like me exists in germany hehe
i showed him some pictures and stuff i made and he asked me if i have a job after the scientific aprenticeship....working for roor would be a stoner dream coming to life hehe
but they are at the other end of germany , and i would have to move over there with my girlfriend and kid, i still have a year of scientific to go so its enough time that will pass that i can think about the future
greetings from the northcoast of germany

Its all looking great man! Congratulations on the lathe at home. I'd love to hear more about it. I'd really love to know what it is and how old it is. Also curious if these are common to find there and what the general cost might they be. I love old equipment and I can only imagine what kind of awesome antique machinery you can find in Germany.
Keep us posted and greetings from the southern coast of California.
Re: steaks thread - progression
the lathe was build in 1982 in east german democratic republik, its a real heavy thing like 500kg
55mm is the maximum tube size it could grab and wich fits trough
ill snap some pics when im in the garage
Re: steaks thread - progression
oh and i made contact with some german companys wich make pipes, i dont want to call out names but they are well known over here
i found that the people were nice at first but after a while that changed the people were really snobbish and would talk me down or lie to me
maybe they think i am too much of a competition ..idk, one even wrote an anonymus e-mail to my meisters at school statin i would steal stuff and sell it, wich he of course knew was wrong, my meister didnt give a shit because he knows that i have never stolen anything in my life...
( i know who that was and im looking forward oi visit this ass after i finished my scientific aprenticeship)
( oh i know but he doesnt know that i know it...:D..)
my experience with the german flameworkers are mostly bad, big egos, greedy people and so on..... i hate to admit that, but maybe im such a awfull guy wich i dont think...
sorry had to get it off my chest

Re: steaks thread - progression
has anyone of you some tips for sculpting? i made some other trys, and im not really satisfied with the results, i have problems with the eyes, not the eyeball itself but the socket and the lids, often i melted the lid and the eyeball together so that there was no definition anymore and i had to carefully sculpt it back with a little knife
i made the ones on the pics with standard wall tubing coated in frit, i made other trys with heavy wall tubing and it went a little bit better
kind regards steak
