Re: GTT Mirages and Kobukis
cut the tendon putting a white rubber grommet on a female gong fitting, should have worn heavy leather gloves.....
wise man once told me :
"the best lessons in life are the ones you pay for"
Re: GTT Mirages and Kobukis
That sucks. I had to give up playing upright bass after severing the tendon on the index finger of my left hand (steeling a chef's knife + watching ESPN == bad). Even after rehab, I can't apply enough pressure with it for more than 10-15 minutes. Hope it gets better!

I only have a single stage pedal on my mag. I hooked it up to the mirage second stage and manually flip on the third ring when I need it. Using an old ammo box foot pedal I had on The Carlisle.
Re: GTT Mirages and Kobukis
Just got my Kabuki a couple weeks ago.... LOVE iT!!! THe most versitile GTT of them all. Built a Kick-Ass foot pedal for $420. Gotta thank Lee and N3rd for the info on the build and parts. (check out their thread http://www.talkglass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22881 ).
And, it does go together like butter. Wireing is a little tricky, but remember to just follow the flow of current all the way thru from the plug and back to plug, you should be just fine. I'm an idiot with electricity and mine works without shocking me:) The

Ditto on the Kobuki! I finally got around to hooking mine up and busting out a few pieces on it. It's far more versatile than my delta was. Sure you could adjust the Delta's flame size fairly well but you had to compromise the flame chemistry to do it. I love this thing! It does everything I'll ever need a torch to do that is for sure.
Re: GTT Mirages and Kobukis

Going from a Red Max to a Mirage is going to be pure awesomeness!
I went from a red max to a Maya years ago and that was mad tits!

@ Jerry:
do you feel the Kobuki puts out more heat than your delta?

I couldn't tell you as I haven't had a chance to totally rage it as of yet. The Kobuki's outer ring is larger than the Delta so it should have a wider area of heat, if it's actually hotter or not is hard to say.
Re: GTT Mirages and Kobukis
i dont have a kobuki and i have never run one. but i took a class with eush and he said it took him a min to figure out the heat and if i remember correctly he said if you rage the two inner rings you get all the heat you want

Our friend from outer space mentioned something about "overdriving" the phantom rings by using separate regs and bump the pressure.
Re: GTT Mirages and Kobukis
Is there still a kobuki for sale ?
Re: GTT Mirages and Kobukis
he actually runs HIGHER pressures on the phantom ring, than on the kobuki one? i saw an opposite post where someone said the lynx and phantom didnt run nice on higher pressure on his torch and wanted to run a separate reg for the last stage , set higher.. i am so new to the torch i guess that i dont notice any drawbacks yet to having one pressure on everything. someday i may get more attuned i guess, and want separate regs.
Re: GTT Mirages and Kobukis
My Kobuki is on the UPS truck somewhere in Austin right now.
I'm sitting in the living room staring at the door.
