I'm Dennis aka Greenman from Millville, NJ. 3rd generation glass worker, Been on the torch about 4 years, started in industry doing quartz scientific lathework, and I'm now double majoring in Scientific Glass Technology and Glass Art at Salem community college in NJ. Hi!
Hi, my name is Gage and I just started yesterday! I took an introductory class at a studio in Minneapolis to get acquainted with glass work and so I could go to their open torch sessions (fantastic deal from what I know). I already really enjoyed the short time I had on the torch (3 hour class, maybe hour or so on the torch). Looking forward to expanding and practicing different skills, share my creations, and learn from everyone here!

Hi everybody, I'm alive! That means I'm still blowing, 8 years in. I've spent my entire career in Texas after spending the rest of my life everywhere else. I'm here to have a good time and actually participate with the community around me for once. I'm a hermit, so you won't hear much from me, but I'm wordy, too, so when you do it'll be well said. I'm currently working at Bomdiggidy Studio in Katy, and I couldn't be happier. There's no place like home.
Hello all!
Just starting on my own National 6B in the home shop I am setting up, still waiting on a couple last key items before I am fully set up (holidays are hectic so hopefully a picture of my station will be posted early next week). I am excited to start the journey, I have been interested in glass blowing and torch work for about 5 years and finally took the leap after a few lessons to get a setup to lampwork at home. I can't wait to learn more. Thank you all in advanced for any help or tips you may share! I am in the Tacoma/Seattle area of Washington, I would love to get to know some of the local community.

aspiring glass blower, but so far only done research and a handful of twisted mis-shapen globs, and 1 glass tube formed into a beautiful pipe* that sadly did not survive cooldown.
That failed pipe did 2 things, it taught me that i had nothing close to the know-how and skill required to make a pipe i could respect, and also while i was forming it, as it moved and molded into a work of art at my hand, i knew that i loved doing this.
which in a round-about way brings me here. ive saved yall the time of teaching me things such as heat stress and annealing, and looked up the whole process, but there is never and end in the pursuit of mastery and knowledge
thanks to anybody who bothered to read this, and thanks in advance to all those who will doubtless teach me many things
*beautiful pipe in my eyes, though im sure that most of you veterans would have laughed had you seen it in all its lopsided bowl, sharp carb rim, un-even thickness spendor
Hello all, I am 30, I live in Northern Virginia and will begin my journey down the rabbit hole of glass art in 2015! I have HUGE plans for myself that will hopefully raise the level of awareness and appreciation of glass art in general. I am happy to have been directed to this forum by some great artists, and it is my hope I can become friends with even more here on TMP! =)
Welcome everyone :D
Hello, I’m Zavanna and I just started browsing threads here and so far I enjoy reading it. Looking forward to learn some more from all of you here. Glad that I have joined this forum :)
Hey everyone - I'm Raymond Callahan (Ray), and I'm a greenhorn when it comes to glass. I think it's time to get this new hobby moving along. Got a small torch at home, a few supplies, and prepping and area to begin this journey.
A mostly self taught musician at heart (keyboards) & veteran vocalist, computer graphics artist (personal enjoyment), I've been drawn to the beauty of glass art, glass blowing & flame working. I'm hoping that I can tap into the vast knowledge base of the forum members, and eventually become a contributing member...

I'm a disabled vet, 43.
No visions of grandeur, I just want to learn a new hobby that I really have an interest in and hopefully, make some pipes that work eventually.
I just found this site a couple of hours ago and am really glad that I did. Seems like a Great Community.
Looking forward to hours of reading and learning from the site.
Tomorrow will show me what it's like behind a torch and answer a lot of questions.

Hello!! Im Gordon aka Bigbone1 (dont ask) lol:-) started manipulating glass in 2001 as a hobby and stopped in '09 to be a daddy (now have 2 a boy and a girl) to teach this ever expanding trade to. My full time job is a Dental Tech, making people's smiles brighter, been at that for 17 yrs and wishing I had the same time behind the torch. I reside in a outskirt town of Rogue River, Oregon called Wimer. Just rebuilt my bench to accommodate my Cheetah, Phantom, and a good friends Mirage over my xmas vacation and been back at it since. Just like riding a bike, for being off the torch for 5 yrs I would have thought my fingers and steadiness would have failed but not a chance. Glad to be back and one day I might figure out how to post images im a ratard when it comes to phones and computers..we dont get along :-)
Hey there bigbone, welcome to the melting pot! I bet you have some good dental tools to use on glass ! My mother was a dental hygienist before I was born and She gave me her old tools. Hope you enjoy the forum!

Hi there, my name is Robert Reeder, I have been learning lampworking for the last four years, and I really enjoy it! I live in Ravenna, Ohio and I am completely self-taught and this forum is a great resource for someone like me! I have already found quite a few useful nuggets of info in just a brief scanning of the tutorials and stuff! I got a late start in life to pick this up, I am 47 years old, I hope to keep doing it until I can't anymore. I am also a full-time construction worker, with winters off, so when asphalt finally cripples me, I hope to have lampworking to fall back on!
Hi all I'm Nash or napglass ,from Volcano on the big island of Hawaii. Been working glass almost two years now thought I'd post up here after lurking on this site for what seems to be forever. This awesome forum and glass pipes.Org got me into glass then took a hotshop class at university which led me to drop out, build my own studio and start working full time behind the torch. Thanks to tmp for all the knowledge and assistance throughout.

Hi Crip. Wazzup?
Names Chris, living in Kansas. New to glass still in the baby steps phase. Looking to advice, tips, tricks and such.
What's up guys, I am Just Another Benavidez , I go by JAB. I am from New Mexico, been melting full time for exactly one year this month. Took my first class in 2012. I am learning from Magma Glass and Cooper Soulfate. I always loved glass and one day my buddy took me to a Boro-Battle and from that day on I was hooked. Good to finally start getting active on the forum.
Hello all.
Im in PA and am a total Newbie to torch working.
I bought everything I need to start playing around with glass and have no ability at all.
I am still waiting for the Glass Studio closest to where I live to open..was to be march but now its getting pushed out further. Until when I do not know.
I have tried on my own with no lessons or help and have gotten so frustrated at making poor globs of glass That I am not touching it again Until I can get some lessons so as to not spoil it for me.
Watching on You tube has not helped much.
I will look through some of the videos on here to see if it helps any.
I have come to the conclusion that my biggest problem may be my torch (and lack of learning on it).
Its a National 6b Bench premix with an htc-1 tip.
I believe I would like to get a GTT Lynx or Carlisle Wildcat.
With either I will have to get a second Oxygen to get me to 10LPM instead of the 5 I have now.
But I have heard they are very forgiving for the newb.
Zarathustrian pipemaker and thermogenic reverse entropy engineer. Peace enthusiast. I used to see booty when I closed my eyes, now I see glass. So let's get funky with the flames :D

Hi, gonna go by mulberry here for privacy's sake. About to be 22 in about 2 days. Have a little experience on the torch from a guy in Kent from a few years back(pretty sure he's on this site considering he's the one who told me it exists, however I have no idea of the username), its been awhile since I've been on the torch but I've had glass fever since I was a kid. Working on building my own setup as soon as possible but am going to do my research until I can.
Hey there my names Kenny aka keso I am 26 years old and I live in Southern California, I've been a working on a lathe since August of 2011 for a waterpipe company. Instantly fell in love with boro and melting and really want to set my own studio up, I've been trolling this place for a long while and the amount of knowledge I have acquired just from reading through these forums is priceless, I am very happy I found this site, thank you to everyone who contributes. This place is the shit!!!!!

Hello all,
I'm James, been on the torch fulltime since last april. Started in Denver now I'm in Richmond Va. I'm a pipemaker use to work through a couple production studios now I'm self employed and business is good. That said I still have less then a year under my belt and still have much to learn. In particular I would like to talk to other pipemakers who use Carlisle torches. I'm struggling to get the striking right for large encasement pieces.
Hello, glassy folks!
New here, have no equipment, yet, but have been eating up tutorials, techniques, and trying to wrap my head around the best equipment to purchase (down the line). Please send any pointers, videos, and tell me how to keep my sanity while I'm dreaming of playing with glass but have no supplies.
I'm in Central NY, and it seems there are very few in the area that do this kind of work, so I'm stumped as to where to go to get my feet wet (or, yaknow, burn my feet off, whatever is more appropo). My family and I are trying to relocate, though, so hopefully I will be in a place where there are more glass fiends!
If anyone is in CNY and is willing to let me stare over your shoulder for a few hours and ask you some questions, I would happily pay you in giant cookies and beer.
I'm new-SURPRISE! However I've been a member here for months and have only read, read and kept reading in an attempt to ride out the highest arc of the learning curve by applying what I've learned from the wealth of knowledge and experience available from the seasoned here. I respect the time and skills of those who gather here to connect and selflessly give their advice, opinions, and encouragement to those of us trying to keep on keeping it on. I will not disrespect your gifts by expecting you great people to answer simple questions that have already been given time AND answered as though I were to good to simply put MY time into it I've been salivating to get behind a torch for almost a decade, and well this dog has gotten her day!! The space, price, locale, ect....of where I have been able secure to set up my studio is my gift from the glass Gods for my wait. My shop is 30x90,w/ 30 ft ceilings, and a nice big 25 ft roll up bay in the back and the only people torching in,or working out of my shop are me, myself, and I. WORTH THE WAIT!
