i really like the handle on that last slide! nicely done.
Looks tight Boiseno!...Nice!...
Yea dude, the slide with the fume trap is TIGHT! really dig the handle on there. Where did you get fools gold at?, ive been wanting to try that color for a while and havn't seen it anywhere. Do you have any pieces that are straight fools gold without anything covering them? the spoons are exactly what ive been doing the past few days, hehehe, fumers and w/r looking exactly like that, kinda had to do a double take. how much do you get out of those spoons in your area if you don't mind me asking? I'm trying to get comparisons to see if my prices are right...
Some sweet work man
Thanks for the kind words guys.
Frill I got one stick of that fools gold in with some steel wool I got years ago and used about 1/3 of the stick in that time and used the rest of it for this pull. So I don't know where to get any but I would say it's deffinitly a color to mix down with clear in just about any application. That goes for the fools gold and wool they bubble up and leave a very pitted surface otherwise, unless you remix it. You can get about twice the milage out of it mixed with clear.
I pulled stringers of it and coated my 25mm tube then cased that in cobalt so it's a fairly subtle effect in this prep but looks great in person.
Lastnights work. Finally used the last bits of color tube my buddy made for me as a wedding gift. Also the same prep as above, fools gold under cobalt.
Thanks for lookin
Looks very nice..
Another lock. I love these, I'm really enjoying making this style and size. "pocket locks" this is ap with the same prep from before.
Thanks for lookin
Tight, I like that one even better!..looks great!...
Thanks headdi I've really been concentrating on making clean straight encalmos. These last two pieces have been some of my favorites so far. Very comfortable in the hand as well.
nice encalmo sherly!
Thanks kato, and don't call me sherly :D
form on your locks is getting really much better. good work.
Damn, how do you forget the carb? Tired lastnight I guess. I'm gonna make a glass sophieta tonight and get this fixed up.
^^^ oh man I hate when that happens, donr it a few times myself :o:
all part of it tho, lookin great btw, lovin the locks!
I did the same thing a few months back on a similar size bub. I just threw it in the kiln with the mouthpiece hanging out and popped the carb when it got up to temp and then threw the whole thing back in the kiln.
really liking that bub and those locks are clean man.
the shaping aon that one you forgot the carb on is nice
and love the opal encasement up there. how are you getting the colored tubng?
^^making it!!
Finished bub with carb and my quick bent-neck sophieta tool
lol i know your making it.. sorry let me rephrase my question..
what technique are you using to get that colored tubing?
Haha! I'm coating 25 heavy with color then sleeving it into 50x5 melting down and pulling the tube.
Lucked out into some exp. Green before my replacements come from NS. The pics just don't do it justice. Really wanna try it over some white next time.
Thanks for lookin.
Sick sherlock dude, do you have clear over the exp green there? waiting on my replacements aswell..hehe so excited
Yeah it's under clear.
Very nice boiseno! Lookin very shapely)
Im diging the sherlocks nice and clean
Thanks guys! I love making these sherlies. I'm gonna start on bubs pretty soon but for now here is one more. This one wasn't fused to the blowtube well andd the mouthpiece blew up when I hit it with a propane rich flame. First failure on one of these in a long time. Anyway I removed the broken section and added a new mouthpiece with some shaping to hide the seam.
Exp green sleeved once again.
Thanks for lookin
hmmm , I just realized the way I make these is a bit ridiculous. ..... I make the bowl section the other way around on the blowtube, push bowl, punty up on the top , remove handle , and use a handle to blow in bowl push to shape bottom and pop hole for connection. It works for me, but thats the method I figured out on my own. I need to try this method. Nice save there!
That's the way alien does it and it works for him. I recently did a tut on sherlocks.....here's the link.

Hope that helps
nice to know someone else does it that way, think I do it that way because I usually do bowl push before I make connections. I think the way you are doing em will work better for me though. One of my fav shapes to make, great for solar blazing, if you get down like that.
Nice sherlocks Ryan, I dig that experimental green. I scored some exp green over star white tubing from Abe at my Cowboy class in portland. Lets melt it down mang !
Hell ya dude! When's good for ya? Would a weekend work? Hit me up about it.
Exp green over yellow crayon slide.
Ryan, I like them slides, but I love the locks ....tried one last week my techniques need work but I have a section so far that did turn out sweet I need to finish it..definitely have to do a bunch of these to get use to the bridge..=)
A goblet I did lastnight for my airguy. He's an old family friend and has been kicking me down free tanks most of the times I go so I needed to give something back.
More difficult to build than I thought at first. Well I think I've made three in the past so I don't have much experience with them. The connection between the cup and stem is a liitle more wonky than I would have liked. I needed to slow down and really work my heat base before connection. Oh well, next time.
I finished this piece lastnight. First time bending spirals into tubing and I'll admit it's a little rough, I need to tweak my assembly a little to make sure my welds are spot on.
Overall I'm pretty happy with my outcome. I used green/ap frit for the honeycomb mib on there.
Thanks for lookin
That is a sick tube pull sir, I am straight up biting that color scheme tommorrow :) You do the tube pull?
Haha Sweet! I wasn't to sure about the color scheme when I put it together but it turned out pretty cool. Ya indie bust it out. Post some pics. I wanna see what you do with it.
Thanks.
