Hello,
Gidian here. Been flame working 11 years. Mostly pipes and other such functional pieces.
Just moved to Pittsburgh, wondering if there are any other pipemakers out this way. May be looking for some studio space.
Cheers,
~G~

Hello,
My name is Terry. I have been learning to work with glass part time for about 6 months. I have been getting a set up done in my garage to work from home. I bought my first torch, tanks, tools and working on a kiln and oxygen generator now. I like using forums to find help and answers from people with experience out there. If this is one of those forums, like the last one, where none wants to help or answer questions please let me know so I can leave now and not waste my or your time!
Nothing worse than a public forum you have to be in "the club" to get any kind of information at all!
welcome. people are pretty helpful here. use the search function before you ask a question and people will be really helpful.
you might need to leave unless you do what berning said.. heeheh
been a lurky.... i collect glass...want to learn the form (know it all but experience)....have friends who are baller on the torch (many of which are on this site) buying torch as soon as possible...not a forum noob... omg a search tool!! hope it works... anyways this :n00b: can't wait to learn so much more.
My name is Chris, and I'm not a glassblower until my torch gets in. I have been around the scene for a while, and have seen enough glass blown to know what im getting into. I was just managing 3 glass shops, and decided I wanted to be producing the glass. I have to make it work, cause Im spending most of the money I have to start this up. So far everyone here seems cool, and I appreciate everyone's advice and help in advance

I live @ Emerald Isle, on outer banks NC. Probably older than most here @ 46, longhaired surfing country boy, I look forward to meeting all, I am a total fresh slate. All advice appreciated. Looking a good torch, has anyone tried the scorpion yet? If so what did u think? Whould love mirage (from what I have read) but is outta reach. Ran across evenheat 23-13 glass kiln with rampmaster ll. Never fired brand new and still on skid ,pic up for $750, hope that was a good deal cause I own it now.
Hi, I'm Nan (and yes, I ride!).
I'm new to glass, but I've been into art for about as long as I remember. Most recently, I've been doing a lot of ceramics (slab-work, mostly, and a little sculpting. Definitely not a wheel-thrower)
I've taken one "Intro to Fusing" class, slumped one piece and now I am hooked! I scored an itty-bitty kiln from a friend; stumbled onto this board while searching for "Build a Digital Controller" guidance; I've already started pestering Smutboy420 via PM (Thanx for the info!!!); and figured I oughtta at least introduce myself formally!
So here it is! Hi, I'm Nan from San Jose, CA. I'm ancient compared to most of you (47 - EEEEK!). No body-art and only my ears pierced! I'm in the process of building my kiln and, in the meantime, I'm signing up for another "Intro" class to learn a little about torch-working (Uh oh!)
I plan on lurking mostly, until I have something worthwhile to say! :-D

Just saw this thread and realized I've never formally introduced myself. So, I guess this is my 300 posts in, introduction.
My name in Kenyon, I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I've been on the torch for about a year and a half now. My first idea of ever blowing glass came after I became fascinated with how perculation in waterpipes worked. After making a bunch of plastic bottle bongs (that actually ripped pretty well) I had hit a spark for making pipes and decided to save up all my monies and go to Revere for a crash course in glass. After a month there I got my things together in Salt Lake and have been ragin ever since :)
Hi my name is Heather, 28 for now, shitville, az..(prescott valley, az), stay at home mom w/ glass fetish....started with a HH, went to a bobcat, currently have a scorpion, and realized i need a damn Kobuki!!!!! trying to learn things so i can try them. self taught on most things i do glass related. bringing glass to this crappy town one friend at a time (they all wanna do it now, and want to rent my torch....i don't think so). um...IDK, i'm pretty boring, except to one yr old daughter. BTW, where the HELL did this snow come from...this is arizona....started with soft glass, tried boro, now i can't go back to soft...it just makes me mad and i want to throw it.
welcome everyone. this place has much to offer
Hi all, Dave, 52, North central Texas. Flame working with my wife about 3 years. National 8N setup and Phantom on the way so we can work at the same time and I can do bigger sculptures.
Hello friends, my name is Maricela. Fresh from Tucson, 22, have been fortunate enough to learn from some patient and generous friends (first year wielding flame). Mostly boro...marbles, sculpture, hollow work...some soft glass beadage.
Just arrived to my new home in Portland, OR. Looking forward to exploring the city and trying to expand my knowledge base with pretty much anything.
For anyone who has lived or is in the Portland area I'm looking for suggestions and friends (glass and otherwise).
thanks for the opportunity, Mari
My name is Justin Sanchez I'm 22 and I first got inspired by the hot glass works in 2007 on vacation in Bermuda. The artist Damion let me make a mandrel bead and the first one Came out pretty good, Damion said I had a natural feel for the flow of the glass. I continued to make a few more beads. I came back home to Galveston Texas were I learned the basic bubble and inside out tech and cane work, from a local artist. Learned from him for about a month, then self taught to the current date. I've only met a few artist around Houston. I have a booth for the reggae fest in Austin to sell glass that's the only time I really get a chance to see some serious glass blowing.
