Total noob / wannabe.. 34 Love all forms of art checking in
Hello all.
Another noob here. Have seen a few live demos, but no ideas what I'm doing.
Very interested in making glass my life/career. Looking for direction. Possibly a "mentor" to work with sometime.
Ya know, trying to get started and have no idea what to say.
Gonna surf around the forum see what I can learn. Thanks Tokecity for sending me here.
welcome Blower 202 and Hacheech. There is a ton of very useful information on this forum. Learn from it ask questions of the members. Then when your a great flameworker help spread the knowledge.
Hey everybody,
My name is Brandon, I'm a resident of saint paul, mn. I'm 22 years old
I just purchased my first torch, a Carlisle (CC) i have no prior glass experience. I've played upright bass for 13 years. I currently own my own company "Simply-Vapour" that sells electronic cigarettes and all natural liquids. Ive always had a love for glass and the process of transforming the shapeless into that only governed by the extent of your imaginary exploration. I hope to tap some of that potential so I can share my art and contribute real inspiration to our human experience.
Welcome to the forum and the world of glass! I think you'll find that your musical experience, and the experience of learning to play an instrument, serves you well in this process.
Cool Grape, thanks for the intro.
I wish we had archives of the forums from 2000-2005, but ezboard/yuku lost all the data 2-3 times. Pretty unfortunate, that was some great info and history.
For your pluto vs. grape accounts, we can merge the two if you'd like.
Know what you mean about not being around other glass workers. After starting in Albuquerque, which had a small enough community back in the late 90s... I moved somewhere about 150 miles from really anyone else that was doing boro. I would have been far more lost without the forum. It's been pretty important in my own glass learning all that time, not to mention getting to know people.
Welcome back then :o)
My name is Kyle Pierce aka INKY!! Iv been working behind the torch for 6 years and pushing my limits daily on my GTT COBRA which I sold my soul for!!!! Love every day of it!!!! I run INKZ GLASSWORKS in Bend Oregon and hope to be doing it for life. Really looking forward to taking a lot of classes this year!!
always wondered what happen to those old forums, thats really shitty that ezboards just lost all info n history.wtf
yeah if you could merge the two accounts that would be great julian. thanks!
welcome inky!
Hey I'm looking to give working with a boro a go. Would like to talk to anyone in the GTA / Ontario or anyone who'd answer a few questions.
Hey everyone, I thought I'd reintroduce myself because I haven't been on the boards in a reeaaaly long time. My name is Bob Malloy, I'm 29 and I used to go by Flamebob on here.
I have been taking a pretty long break (nearly 2 yrs) from learning lampworking to go back to the U of Montana (Missoula). Since I've been back in school I have noticed that I really an outlet again.
Hey, My names Alex
People call me Steve, AlGore, Ashtray, and others.
I work down the street at my local glass shop.
I live outside Toronto. Just getting into this after waiting about 2 years to get to a point where I can handle life better, to do this. It's been rocky but I got all my equipment and shall be setting up in December.
My name is Shawn and I'm 35.
Started working with glass on a carlisle cc (snodgrass glass supply) in march 2000.
Got formal lessons from Bob Snodgrass in September of 2002. Learned a whole lot from this forum over the years as well ! :bouncy:
I briefly posted under the name glowing boro just before OPD 03 hit. After being introduced to the board indirectly by Maestro.
Currently work in the Athens, Ohio area and my studio is within skateboard riding distance of Skatopia skatepark (roads are made of gravel in the area though).
I balance playing poker and finishing my house with blowing glass.
I attended AGI 2007.
My great uncle was a master stone carver. - Ernie "popeye" Reed.
Although I have a burning passion to work glass I try to be humble about it.
Just a little about me, I'm glad to see the forum torch is still lit and I look forward in periodically participating on it while balancing my busy life.
Peace
welcome!
Hello everyone. Jack here. I have an interesting hobby where I make trash out of perfectly good glass tube. I do this with a neat method of making pieces and when they near completion they begin to crack and I repair them while another forms until finally it crumbles into pieces on my bench. Every once in a while I fail at this and I have to sell it in my shop which I have been running for a little over a year. I have been lamp working for a few months now. Working on a Carlisle that I borrowed from a friend.
Love to watch others work every chance I get.
Favorite artist include Lace, Saki, Alex, Will and Jennifer. Oh and Bob...I got to ride with him after the DFO! :)
^^watch out for this one y'all.
Hello everyone!
My name is Kyra and I recently pulled together something of a glass studio for myself. I'm in middle TN and don't know many lampworkers around here. So if you're in the area I'd love to meet you and if you're not I look forward to reading your posts. So far I've mostly been going to events and selling figurines and jewelry while I demonstrate but I'm about to get into pipe making and things more in that direction. I'm 23 and I've been in love with glass most of my life.
Whats up all...my name is John, i go by Tex.I love glass and work in a shop.Just started really having fun with spoons and what not."Listen and Learn" is my motto. Thanks to all who have contributed.
