i found that somewhat of a funny comment as well.
I have stubbornness problems sorta runs through the family its like telling a boudler to move out of your way and you expecting it to just get up and move. Its hard to explain. I find with me the best way to get me to do something is to just let me run my course with some guidance. I dont know how else to explain. If we met in person you would see i am pretty hard on myself with glass and my music.
The vase is 4" tall i was using 32mm heavy to try and get the idea of how to do it. Im thinking of getting some 44mm heavy to do the bigger vases. The clear one is pretty uniform through out except for the mouth. I only got that one after one of my most epic failures. Needless to say i dunked the mouth and shattered the bottom on the ground. After a cig and alot of pacing i went back and made that guy.Still.got alot of work to do but i think im getting the idea now
Stubberness and humility are not necessarily mutually exclusive personality traits.
You are going to have a really hard time getting anywhere with glass if you think you already know all (or any, really) of the answers and that your approach is the best. Ever hear of Dunning-Kruger? Honestly, this is one of the most perfect examples of the phenomenon that I have ever seen.
Good luck. You are going to need it.
Then how do i get better heat control how do i shape so i dont seem like a complete ass on here everytime i post?
Practice practice practice then when you think you got it practice some more. The more I practice the more I understand the heat base and melting everything in properly it's just something that you will learn by doing it over and over. I'm doing things now that when I first started I thought I would never be able to do. Just when you master something there's something else that is right behind it to take it's place it's a never ending learning curve. Keep it up bro :D
great advice. i would save this as my signature, but nomads words are priceless....
just keep burnin, learnin and realize all of us we there once, i don't care how much you think you know....the more you know, the more you know you don't know.
keep posting. the fact you still blow glass 6 months after you started, is more than most people that have tried this "easy living"
Easy my ass. This has to be one of the hardest things i have attempted.
no matter how good or bad your work is, your work isn't going to make you seem like an ass. i've posted some pipes that straight up look like a 3rd grader made them, but still take any advise and criticism you get to heart....good or bad.
NOT listening to the vets (who only try to help, although it may seem harsh at times) good advise is what makes people look like an ass (i'm not saying you are an ass, quite the opposite).
having a thick skin around here is needed, as i found out the hard way ;)
LMFAO!!!! Dude, I wasn't even giving you crap.
I know somebody that is just like you, they think all of there stuff is the best in the world. This person classifies themself as the top 10 in the world. To me there is nothing more annoying than a person so full of themself that they can't even talk to people about there glass without getting into a fight. Good luck.
P.S. Just so you know, you may want to go check out nature, it makes some pretty damn perfect stuff.

I do not think that about myself or my shitty ass glass.
hey james, when you finish those bulbs, are you just using some of the point for a loop at the top?
that's the way i've been trying to do them, but can't get a clean loop.
Ya thats how im doing it. I pull about a inch or two then i heat it just enough at the spot i want the loop to start so it bends down. Then slowly heat up the rest of the string of glass allowing it to gather on itself as evenly as possible. While doing that i sorta push it along with some tweezers. Ream to make a perfect hole and your done. One last thing beware the vaccum itll make your ornament look like a victim from a horror film.
lol the vacume is my biggest foe...i get the top too hot. i'll have to try it again with a smaller flame. thanks for the tips!
No problem
Your ego is still progressing much more than your glass. It should probably be the opposite.
I really don't see how your stubbornness is relevant here
I understand that muph. Like said before if you met me youd understand.

Made these guys tonight. My tool seems to push out the opposite side of the pressure so ill need to work on that but theres 20 there all together. Their mainly just clear
Humble....yeah that is hard huh. After all when your a glass maestro why be humble. Ive been at this game almost 10 years, all it takes top humble me is get on facebook or boromarket. Look at Clinton Romans work, that should take the winright out your sails, it does mine. LTD had some wise words along with Mech. Maybe you were taught to listen to and respect your elders. Well there speaking........ By the way the vases dont look to bad, 100 more and you may just have it. Not trying to be a dick, just keep seeing noobs wanting feedback then gettin all defensive when there critiqued.
Oh no i know those guys know what their saying and i know i should listen. Thats why i started my 100 leafs tonight 20 down 80 to go maybe 200 at my rate. The vases well they can go on my shelf of shame.
