Looks sweet indie! Rip it up!
Recent work is looking good. Make more goblets.
yes goood indeed,, likin the exp lock,,
first eye I have put on a piece. Princes purple pull. I was hoping it was going to be a striker.
Thanks for lookin
So how'd you make the solid color tubing? Coil pot then sleeve?
Indie read back in the thread and I explain what I do to make my tube I think page 7 or 6.
WHAT!?! How dare you make me search for stuff in this thread!! IM TAKING MY BALL AND GOING HOME!
No for real though I looked and didnt see it. Now granted I didnt look THAT hard, maybe 1-2 minutes tops, skimming through.
Oh yah and here is S.W.I.M.S. color test of that tube pull bite. It's Northstar white tubing w/ cap.

Edit: Eww that left termination is straight garbage....
Sorry I should have been clearer man....
Are you coilpotting then marvering smooth, then stiping down and marvering, and the sleeving, are you using a vac on the sleeve?
Just striping it onto 25x4 heating, smoothing and blowing till it will just fit into 50x5 then sleeve, heating and marvering down as I work my way down the tube.
Going to do my first vac tonight.
How are you doing it HWC
Pic of one of the ends of my first vac. I twisted this up and into a pair of bowties lastnight, then fitted on to some discs, I'll post pics of the piece when finished.
LOL better watch out Bois or I will thieve that color combo too.. just messing with yah. Nice looking vac stack brother! WORD!
Dbl post..lol..
Damn Ryan!,That's Purty!....=)
Bitter defeat lastnight. Glassgods givith and the glassgods takith away......
I had one of those day today man.... Had this sick bub all the way done, went to tap loose the graphite GONG tool... and TINK the graphite head cracks in half right at the top of the joint... could have never seen it coming.
Needless to say fought with it trying to get it out... should have cut my loses from the get go but I am a stubborn asshole.
3 hours later.... lol you know where this is going.
I guess this is my long winded way of saying shit happens :)
Thanks indie. On a good note I was able to save the stem section so I'm making a piece with that tonight......we'll see what happens
First dish and dabber for my friends b-day. Just a quick one.
Sorry for the extra crappy phone pic. It's already gone
New style lock I'm exploring a little. My first one was a failed attempt but I got this one to turn out pretty cool.
Dark amythest tube and GAP frit for all the combs. Just AP for the horn. Really wanted to do some crazy shaping on this one but I figured i'd get one to turn out before I get too crazy with the concept.
Thanks for lookin
The comb in the disc looks like it's scratched or something but it's just the light. It was hard to take good photos of this piece.
Nice Bois. I like the direction, go with the flow
edit: oh yah.. fat combs :)
edit 2: oh yah bois... Here is the real use of that tube pull ganked
Thanks indie! That piece is actually cooling off in the kiln right now...there was a couple little cosmetic things on it I had to correct and I figured while it's in there a few more striking cycles couldn't hurt :)
Nice linework on that piece there. You get the graphite off your other one without breaking it? Sorry about your tool busting off like that.
Looking good Ryan, nice thinkin outta the box. Your piece that didn't make it looks Awesome too...
Fuck no dude that shit is in a million pieces on the shop floor. Only recognizable things are half a fillachello and a ground glass joint with a chunk of graphite in it.
sorry but that image was pretty funny, just the way you described it. sorry about your luck though :)
Lol all good brother. Thats the way the glass gods wanted it.
Since you like the description let me give you a better representation as to the night i was having..
11:30 PM : Several hours deep into this peice (which I have been making components for it for about two days) it starts to rain like a god damn monsoon.
11:34 PM : Shop celling begins to leak. First a little, then all of a sudden a literal waterfall opens up in the roof dumping oh I dont know 500-1000 gallons of water into the shop about 15 feet away from my bench.
11:45 : The shop is now filling up with water.
Midnight : More water. Piece is in the kiln on the handle. I am contemplating my next move. Do i finish or leave.
12:30 : FUCK LOADS MORE WATER. LIKE A METRIC ASS TON OF WATER
12:45 : Standing ankle deep because the drain is now clogged I continue working on the piece. Water has literally filled the several thousand square foot warehouse. Finish all attachment, opals, millis, ect.
12:46 : Grab the bottom of the piece with my big kevlar pad. Hold it upside down and tap the GONG holder shaft with my paddle handle.
12:46 1/2/ : Graphite head splits in half inside the joint.
12:47 3/4 : FUCK MY FUCKING LIFE.
2:00 AM : Soaking wet, water to about half way up my knee the piece slips out of my hands as I am trying for the 10th time to extricate the graphite from the GONG fitting (theres fucking water everywhere I couldn't grip SHIT) and falls to the bench cracking the newly welded handle off.
2:01 AM : After uttering the longest single string of expletives heard by mankind to date, I grab the GONG fitting... bare handed, and chuck the whole thing as far as I could throw it in the shop.
11:00 AM the Next Day : I come in to the shop after the fucking Biblical flood has receded and found a fairly large section of the can still intact. I take said section throw it in the kiln and make a spoon out of vowing that I refuse to have done all that work for nothing. Spoon lived.... what the fuck ever... woo hoo 50 dollars instead of 550 dollars... great.
Universe:1 Me:0
Wow !....That fucking sucks!......I whould'nt call it a complete loss. Fuck you did awesome under that kind of natural assault..and you learned something new yet again. Probably several things in that scenario!...That musta been intense!...
Jesus man!! My bad night was like a minor sore throat compared to your genetically enhanced ebola virus outbreak.
Lol whats that expression they have about Arizonia... its not bad cause its a dry heat.
Kind of the same thing here... its was not hot cause the air is 100% water...

nice piece, nice flow. I'd suggest putting the carb up on the bowl part tho. People will find anything to bitch about when you are selling stuff, and you know they are gonna say it wont clear with the carb that low. Looks like a good connection tho. Props on that piece looks like there is many possibilities with that style.
Thank B. I would have prefered to put the carb up there too but the ergonomics just weren't right. I'd rather have it comfortable to hold for most folks than put the carb in a funky spot that will just make the piece clunky to hold on to.
Maybe on future pieces like this I'll put a hollow horn on that would make the carb a little more accessible and still have good flow.
I also didn't want to blow a hole through the comb up there.
Thanks for the feedback.
Yah, attaching carb horns is an easy way to get the carb in the correct ergonomic location
super nice work keep it up :)
Thx
