One of those spoons is mine, woot!
Hey Boro that's amazing.
And justin, that's bad ass! Love the simplicity
Hard to tell how tiny.

Oh wow, yeah for some reason I was thinking it was about 4X larger..
I super heat it before I install the tail feathers into a open hole. I flame heat the inside till it's all red hot and glowing /starting to change shape. I can't pick a stringer off. They all bond nice nice after the super heat.
The body/wings are hollow. Lots of cold seal style connections with the stringer. (sharp edges that are not melted in. )
I don't get any cracking issues inside the clear core bubble. I use I tiny flame for stringers. A bigger reheat flame on the clear /color edge as I build.
That's a beautiful humming bird sculpture!
^ it's a pipe too. Not that I would want to smoke it, but you could if you wanted. (Per request of the client.)
"I would like a pipe, but have it appear to be a sculpture when displayed on the shelf with my other glass humming birds."

Well, what usually happens happened. I tried something new and have a ton more respect for the people that pioneered/kill it on this tech
So after a 1 year hiatus I'm back
This is what it looks like when you have been lampworking for 4 years and have to start all over!
Happy 2017 you bunch of pyros!!!
Ryan XD

I was diggin this color gamble. I think the next time I will lay up the same colors like a fade, vs the "shooting for high contrast" color hooks on this.
If you look close the one black sheep hook is the way I like it better. (More of a Dark to light fade)
Some of the latest batch.

I just got through this entire thread, and you people are amazing. You're doing stuff with glass that I didn't even know was possible, and there's some truly gorgeous work in here.

Man those are some good lookin locks
looking good yall. lots of great fresh work going on
this one stands about 18 inches tall
this one really speaks to me.
love the 20mm opal on it
Ya thats tight man, nice work.
Anything I should know before encasing a 30mm coin?
I did a 20mm easily enough, just preheated it in the kiln and encased it in a large enough tube... then annealed it I think.
very nice
