Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
I suppose I should probably say hi here, since I've been lurking for a few years. This site has been really helpful with getting my shop upgraded and modernized!
I'm a scientific glassblower from Lethbridge, Alberta - Learned glass about halfway through apprenticeship, halfway through the school of hard cracks. Been doing it for about eight years now, part-time (I'm also a chemistry instructor for the uni). I'm afraid that compared to some of the artistic talent, my work is likely to seem very utilitarian - perhaps even crude. On the other hand, it will hold ridiculous vacuum, withstands harsh environments, and helps other scientists do their thing!
Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Welcome Darkwoods, Loubert and Kris. :)
Hey Kris, we all have a genuine appreciation for your skills and many of us are glad you have found your way here and hope you share your ridiculous vacuum tricks. ;)

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello fellow glass melting addicts, my name is Rutledge ( last name, not like the guy from Top Gear America) aka glassredneck. I'm from BFE Tennessee, if you aren't familiar with it, it is about 30 miles and one left turn passed the middle of no where. I've only been in the glass blowing game for a few months, so I am very much new. With that being said, I'm here to learn and read everything before I post. I'll keep my newfagery to a minimum and refrain from the " newbe torch help" post. As of now I'm working on a Bethlehem alpha but I hope to upgrade soon. Any help or advice anyone wants to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone, I'm Tom, Based in Somerset UK. I have only been working glass for about 4 months...currently thoroughly addicted to marbles and makeing the odd few pendants using a HH. Just put in an order for a GTT scorpion to take me into the next stage of learning, into the wonderful world of boro, and marbles bigger than 1" :D This forum has been so helpful getting me started on the right foot so massive thanks to everyone!
This is a small random collection of my progress so far :)

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hi all, I'm Beth, addicted to anything creative. I received a glass bead making kit last year for Christmas, and the glass bug bit hard. I just got back from a week long glass making extravaganza at CMOG studio, ordered a small evenheat kiln and am expanding from flameworking to kilnworking as well. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, but I'm his 3rd wife. We each have 3 kids and we share 12 grandkids. As well as glass, I also do chain maille, knitting, crocheting, drop spindle spinning, drawing, painting, soap making, beading, and sewing.

Hello all, my name is Jon. Been on the torch since 4/20/13 and love it. Not doing too much on tubing at this point but having a ball. Running a GTT Scorpion for the time being but plan to step up to a Phantom or CC in the near future as soon as I figure out a plan for oxygen. Running on one concentrator for now but adding another after Christmas. Glad to be here and hope to pick up a few things and maybe even help someone along the way.
