thx man, so im officially at 6 months of torchin but probally less cuz i have a lot of off time, not any more, the green is unexplanium seconds i got cheap and i didnt melt it all in b4 encasing, jsut got it hot and rod encased it took like 3, 4 mil rods to cover it, and i have a HTC-1 tip that i use for a lot of my stuff but i have a sm21 under it for the big flame, i actually like my torch it works fine for what im doin , you could get a ryder top torch and a sm21 for liek 170$ and you would have some big flame and not spend to much cash, my friends buy my crap too they love it heheh
dude you are tearing it up. your stuff is looking much nicer, now just fire polish your bowls and you are made in the shade. i like that green it looks almost like malachite.
heres the 2 i made yesterday, the unxplanium green is awsome this time i fumed it a bit b4 i cleared ove it and used the blue dots liik tight wif it I think,
but the unobtanium checked a lot and wasnt that sparklie so thats a free one for sombody hehe , i think that green is my new fav color and so far it hasnt checked on me encased it cracked while i was workin the bowl down by the mouth piece but it healed up sweet cant even tell there was a crack.

Yo sativa i really dont know how I do it hehhe , actually its jsut coiled oveer a pice of 24x4 like 2 inches worth then i cover that with clear rod so it kinda swirles it and coats it so actually the green is kinda thin when i pull it out to like 4 to 5 inches but still thuck from all the clear, and some times i hit it with a light coat of silver b4 i clear coat it. some times i rake the clear on top and sometimes just wrap it over, u an tell the diff between the last 2, thats it

Ok My first try at a drop stem bub
didnt come out so good heheh had a lot of probs along the way, first off broke my point and punty and the can hit the floor but didnt break,
got that back goin then had the blo tube on the top side so when i hooked on the mouthpiece it was way awcward bbut i got it off and then got the stem in,
then i poped a hole to far down in the can so i grabed a pice of scrap and made a snorkel carb,
then as i was pullin the mouth pice off and the whole tube broke off the can. so i got the claw on it and hoked it back on but forgot to warm the claw first so the mouth pice cracked,
i got that all melted back to gether and it was finally in the kiln WHEW.
so I went out this morning to find check city,
oh well it works and was only my 2nd ever bubbler so im happy jsut wish it wouldnt have checked this time, probally from workin it to much, the pipes are quick i spent a few hrs on this fuker :bangHead:

Lookin good! You should get some of that chinese colored tube and make about ten of them with that. That way you can just fume the outside and not spend much time coloring tube and what not.

Im nt sure if Im correct so kick me in the nuts if Im not But I heard the 'Anium' colors check nasty when clear cased, but it appears ur other pieces did great with it, hmmm nvm ignore my mindless babble
the checking of "ium" and other chrome colors (mostly greens) happens when left in the kiln at annealing temp for too long. try garaging the piece at 975 while you work and then up to 1050 for just long enough to anneal when finished. over annealing chrome colors never ends well. the sketchiest part is that it might not crackk/check for months making you think it's fine and sellable when it comes out of the kiln.

i noticed in your pic that it looks like you're using an old pottery kiln, maybe check your pyrometer? if not i wouldn't know what to suggest. winship has the best prices i've found on chinese color.
might be cuz i was workin it alot longer and its thicker than the pipes i made tooo , think that has somethin to do with it, maybe got it tooo hot, cuz the spots where its lighter is where its all checked and thats where i got it thin then wadded it back up maybe just a thought..
after checking my notes from henry i found that cooking too long in a reducing flame can cause the same checking problem. try turning up the oxy.
that looks mad nice for a 2nd bubbler ever. i tried 3 and they all came out way worse and took forever. i need to get some glass other than 22 hvy lol. and some rods. right now im making all my punties from the tubing lol. im poor. but yea mad tight. its cool that we've both been blowin for about the same time. it motivates me to practice and beat you lol.

and Monkey you were right I was checkin over the pice i made last week and have been usin for tha klast few days and it has 2 lil spots wehre ts starting to show checking, so im jsut gona ditch this color and work with somethin else, oh and also the kiln is old but i got a smutty digi control for it so it should be right on with the temps..
Chinese color should be cheap from whomever you buy it from. I would just go with the closest to save on shipping, if you don't have a local supplier.

Thanks, ya the pinky one was actually a coil pot of momka that i tried to reverse but didnt come out as expected so i jsut saved it into a pip.. just got back from makin 3 more should be betta well see tomarrow

30 minutes isnt too bad at all for those man. better to have slower quality than quick jankssss...you can do outside stuff quicker by colouring up a length of tube big enough for 2 or 3 of those, then just chopping them off. kinda tricky at first cause you gotta keep it all hot, but once you get the hang of it it can be a big time saver
nice fuming for sure btw.... try hitting a light silver fume like that with just a bit of gold on top for some nice purples

Im crackin up i just came back from a friends and the steam rollers are off the hook they alyaws disapear, and the super tiny one they were fightn over i couldnt believe it it was so funnny, so now i got full tanks and some cash left over weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee im gona make a shit load of thoes baby pips from every pice i make cuz people are trippin on that shit...
those look good. and dont worry about how long they are taking you, because you are paying attention to form and detail (which shows in the pieces) the speed will come to you naturally with time.
The mini's are sweet! That's the same thing I've been doing with my momka shorts cuz I can't seem to get enough of the same color to make anything bigger.
PS Where you at in Nor CAL crip? I'm like a year (minus a few months during summer) into this whole glass thing. Anyways, if your Davis we have a craft center that has 7 stations with major/minors and three nice kilns. I think it's like $80ish for a three month pass, plus a dollar an hour for oxy, you should check it out...

oK SO i think i need a torch lessson, I dont really know what my torch is capable of and i sounds kinda scarry when i turn it up too much so ima go out an make a vid of how i run it and what it will do and you guys can tell me what ya think.. cuz im sure im not using it to its potential but im jsut not sure about any of it really i jsut kinda use what looks right n sounds good..

wow your flame is WAY huger than mine. i thought it looked exactly like my htm-1 at first then you lit up the bottom flame. anyone think 2 5lpm 10psi devilbiss mc84s can power the sm-21 or w/e it is you got there?
