Still playing with coilpoting :) I think these have great potential for evolving into something really cool. But When I made my push the places where I had dotted with clear to honeycomb, kinda sank in more than rest and its not smooth around edge of the inside of the push??????? Does anyone know how I can prevent that. It doesnt really show in pictures. Also any tips on making these better would be great. The one with the brown dots was the first attempt.
wrinkles around the edge of the bowl is not hot enough. You can flame polish those wrinkles out though...as for trhe clear dots, maybe thiner glass there or it is hotter than the colored tubing
Thanks for the info!
looks nice, try coilpotting a white and then encasing wit persimmon strike for example, gave me a cool look
kind regards frank
yea after you push your bowl go in with a tiny flame a polish all those stretch marks away.
get the bowl hotter before you push it, then there will be less flame polishing in the end with a high oxy sharp flame........
Thanks for the suggestion frank :) I will def try that I tried some white coilpotting some white last night but had a few issues with discoloration and boiling. i shoul prol encase atleast with clear after I honeycomb?? Does everyone else encase their honeycombs??
i had the same with whites but since i bought egyptian white sand i can control it much better, now i have some stag white from tag i want to try out
kind regards

Here are some things I made for fathers day! My dad who love golf as much as I like glass has been the most supportive person of my lampworking and glassblowing. I spent prol 6-7 hours making him the golfing turtle. I had lots of issues but finally pulled it off. He seen a sketch/doddle I had made of it. And asked " could you make a golphin turtle sculpture"? I replied I duno would be really hard, I guess if you were really good you could. LOL I allready planned on doin it, so I had to throw him off my tracks, but now he will think Im awesome The turtle paper wheight is for my grandpa who is one of the biggest reasons why I love turtles. WHile I was young and growing up he would bring me a box turtle every spring that he saved from the road. I would keep it all spring and summer and when the leaves started falling in the fall I would let it go.
turtle paper weight is like an inch and a half x inch and a half
golf sculpture is like three inches tall and the base is about 2 in across
I tried to sculpt the head of the turtle the best I could and was first attempt at that.
All and all I learned alot making it! Hope yall dig it!
love the golfer. :)
im love the golfer too
