I love this thread. :)
Yea, me too, it's just non-stop eye candy
So cool!!! Thank you..! I haven't tried any excessive baking yet, nothing besides just reg annealing and ramp down.. good stuff!!
also (this sounds like a bad glass joke, but i swear it works good) when you're trying to grow your silver crystals via flame striking, dunk your mib in your quench bucket for a second. remove it before it pops though. keep doing this until the glow is almost gone and then let it air cool for another minute. then reheat in the back of the flame till just glowing, rinse, repeat. you can get some crazy silver colors with this tech.
Make sure if you do the water dunking thing that you either have the piece on its original handle or a pretty strong punty. It sucks if you accidently tink the side of the jar, glass, or whatever it is you keep the water in and your piece comes off the punty and is at the bottom of the water just waiting to blow up.
oh yes i forgot to mention that.....cold seals don't work too well for this lol.
has anyone figured out if the water cooled striking gives a different effect, or if it just lets you go through more strikes in a row in less time?
i don't have a definitive answer, but the "water strike" seems to yield more electric blues and purples then just regular air cool/reheat. and what with fuming being the way it is, it's hard for me to do two indentical pieces (one water cool, one air cool) to compare.
sick!
yes, very nice :)
Awesome thread keep em coming guys.
that is baller as fuck!!
sorry i've been wanting to say that lol, sure can't say it in regards to my work lol. seriously, that is sick.

Looooove this thread, I am a big fan of fume work, I recently made this gold and silver fumed recycler based on EA's form and this mini tube has some gold and silver in the base.I fume really heavy with gold and in the right light they have a reflective gold shine. pics with flash and without
