I've never tried what you're doing, so this might be totally off, but if you're looking for a more textured look can you acid etch it at all?

and swamp 25w is the best i think skinny n hot, , 20 does great doesnt burn as much but not as hot you know lol

At least get yourself a box fan that fits in the hole batter and you can take a piece of plywood to block off the top half.

I like the Fan its super high out put,, ventilates the room and keeps me a lil cool .. and I can see out the window.. I like it


I have seen other vents and this one is on par or better than some others i have tried,.

ill set up real ventilation one day when I get me a lathe,, huhuhuhuhuhu
