When: approx. Dec. 5, 2004
What: GTT Mirage Torch w/ burly homemade "L" marver pad, excellent shape very clean, one marking above where marver pad went because the heat from mashing there colored the barrell of the torch, All stickers intact, no fading on knobs, looked almost new. Also had 'ribbed' plastic hosing with black zip ties that covered the 4 hoses coming from the torch. The original hoses were scraped on the inside. 1 Griffin electric foot pedal, excellent shape, 1 Singlewide Small Digital 99LS/D Aim Kiln, blue, excellent shape, had been re-wired underneath, so the connectors aren't stock. No serial recorded (DOH!) but still has Aim sticker, or may have been removed because of it being stolen. It had a round color Northstar sticker and a round holographic DA dichro stickers on the top 'counter-weight' bar. All hand-tools on my bench including: 3-5 reamers, 2 paddles; sanded custom, 3 bowl push rods, 1 pair of hand mashers, 5 pairs of tweezers, 1 Infinite Rim marble Mold - Multi sized, 2 Graphite pads 6x6, 1 pair of 6" aluminum holding claws w/ screw and collar intact still, 1 pair homemade diamond shears, Red handled Dichro/sheet glass nippers, scoring knife, rod nippers, 1 gun case, empty, presumably to hold the tools they stole. There were NODFX Glass catalogs/stickers and/or other promotional stuff in the top of the gun case behind the foam.
<ALL HAND TOOLS ARE/WERE MARKED OR INSCRIBED WITH BIG "N8">
Other details: Thieves broke in, neighbors reported the vehicle looked like mine, a blue Montero, and two kids, one looked like me, went through the back door, opened the garage, and proceeded to move the items described above out to their vehicle. They cut the hoses right below the quick releases (Wish I'd left the Oxy on, hehe) so that leads me to believe they wern't glassblowers, however, they only took glass related stuff. There was a stereo, a huge book of CD's, opened, and a guitar and half stack (huge) amp that they could have loaded up in 3 additional seconds, but they didn't. This leads me to believe they knew a glassblower in the area they could sell my gear to. I will give a $500+ reward to the person that gets my gear back or gets the information/proof to get the thief(s) prosecuted, or a $2000 reward for his teeth (I will make payments). That's right, teeth, all of them. I also want proof of that as well, pictures, bloody ID, etc.

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
Oh yea, please post about missing gear only. If you already know who ripped off your stuff, please don't post about it, take it up with the authorities. This is not a place to slander individuals about a deal gone wrong, etc. It's a thread to reference what's missing in case someone comes across a deal that's too good to be true, or see's similar markings, or someone elses' name engraved, etc. and to be able to contact that person easily if need be. Thanks!

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
well how about bad deals is that ok cause ed gurganus owes me a major minor i paid for
-
Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
well, that is a good question, cause if you paid for something you didn't receive, then you have been robbed....just in a different fashion....but the missing item isn't marked by you in any way to make it reconizable....so people couldn't keep a heads up for it.

What a sad state of affairs that we even need a forum of this type.

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
Ok, so now I start out this forum with some really bad news. During Country Fair. Saturday, I come back home to find my front kitchen window smashed and my shop smashed up, my couches over-turned, drawers upside down on the floor. And, they got my Delta Mirage with it's Marver pad, as well as an 8m piggy-back, and my Dell Inspiron 8200. All of my glass but they left all the expensive construction tools, plus they left all of my instruments but one. The torch was in my house with it's quick release flow end attached. Well, there went the neighborhood. Those GTT guys W&WY should really put serial numbers on their torches, and I read that M-Tech laptops are to easy to track so thieves don't touch them.
Then I heard about this glass theft rampage that's been going around town, but everyone knows, so many people would gladly buy any GTT stolen or not in a heartbeat, ( considering the waiting list)
So All beware and keep your eyes open to help safeguard against thieves. LD

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
I was offered a Bethlehem pm2d for a $1,000 at a SCI show in Atlanta by a guy named Evan, who also goes by "Ev" from the Tampa area. Really nice guy, I don't think he would do such a thing, but I've had people I've known much better and trusted a lot more fuck me over a lot worse. Soooo... if you want more information, I'll be happy to turn it over to you to turn in to police. Guy said he lived in a warehouse and offered to let me stay with him for the winter if I wanted to bring my stuff down to blow glass for a few months. Might just be nothing, but ya never know.

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
Hey gang, I mostly lurk but I just saw a too good to be true kinda listing for a PMD2 Beth Burner on ebay - closing in 2 hours for like $500 bucks current price. Lister claims to be selling for a 'friend' and knows nothing about the torch. Don't you think a friend selling a torch would be told about it or be able to ask the owner?????
Here's a link, maybe someone will recognize the torch:

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
beths have a date and number on the gear, you can kinda see this in the picture. anyone that has one should have a picture and written record of that number.. retailers that you bought the torch from might also have that recorded.
i agree, that does look a bit shady. most glassblowers will put face/port pics as well as a bit more description..
anyway, good eye on that post.

Wow after reading this I am going straight outside to engrave my name and phone number on my $790 Midrange plus (shit is expensive in Australia!) and $1699 kiln....At least if it was stolen I could prove that it is mine!

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
so I just registered to post specifically in this thread. I recently purchased some equip in northeast PA, which i know for a fact has been stolen from this general area. I dont personally know the seller, but while picking up these items, it was quite apparent that his house was full of stolen stuff, some junkies, and a few crack whores.
For obvious reasons, I will not post the items that were purchased.
If you are a lampworker in North Eastern PA, and have recently come home to an empty shop, please feel free to email me with your list of missing items.
Keep in mind this is a rather large selection of equipment, a complete shop, in fact. Dont waste my time with bullshit claims. if your crap is missing, then you know exactly what's gone, and should be able list brand names, model #'s, etc.
I would be more than happy to eat the 3 large I spent, to see that this stuff finds its proper owner.
I have spoken to the PSP, and filed a "found" report. They have no outstanding report of these stolen items, and apparently could not find a report that had been filed with any local PD in the area.
If you are able to properly list these items, you are more than welcome to come pick them up. Bring your photo ID, as I will not release the items to anyone unless you are willing to complete a police report at my local state police barracks. My report has been filed, and upon proper identification of the items, and completeion of a local psp report, they will arrest the crackhead I bought this stuff from.
no reward, and I will not ask for my 3 grand back. but you do have to accurately list ALL items.
p.s. - you'll get your O2 tanks back empty. consider it a tip, lol.

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
Be on the lookout for a douchebag calling himself "Nice Wes", probably around Texas (Austin or Bryan/college station), or Arkansas (Hot Springs). About a year ago he split without notice from the shop we both worked at owing the boss about $600... ok well things happen. Then he came back a few months ago, got back into the bosses good graces, and started working again. Fine I wouldn't have trusted him again myself but it wasn't my decision.
Then over the weekend the boss had to go out of town for awhile, during that time "Nice" Wes cleaned out the shop and his room, and split. I don't have a complete list of what was taken yet , fortunately none of it was too incredibly valuable but all together its a major hit to the studio, and a huge betrayal... any help finding this guy or our equipment would be much appreciated.
Missing are 3 torches - 2 national 3b with 12 hole tip, and a single hole victor welding torch, 2 y splitters and 4 splitters with valves, 3 or 4 sets of hoses, and a small Zimair jewelry kiln. The kiln is the most easy to identify, it is a teal blue color and the door which used to open like an oven has been modified to be like a doggy door, very ghetto looking (the door hinge is screwed into a piece of wood glued to the top of the kiln. Probably also got the seperate digi controller that went with it, various glass and tools etc.
Here is his myspace : http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...iendid=9896598 there are some pictures of his loserly ass and glass.
If you find this guy, hang him from a tree by his balls (if he has any). He will probably claim the boss owed him money... its bullshit. Even if you can't help get the stuff back... do not trust him!

File a police report, then contact myspace. the will get you info on where he is piosting from, and follow up wit the local ISP, and get his ass arrested, plus he has a pic of a mound of maybe 30 Lbs o weed in his pics, so Im sure that the DEA would like to ask him some questions

Thanks, I'll tell the owner to try that. Fortunately (for me anyway) I moved all my own equipment out of there a few months before Wes came back (partly because of security concerns), and when he showed up I made it a point to not let him know where my new shop is located, so my new kiln and Barracuda are safe and sound. :D Plus I still had my old 8m and tips, regs, and hoses, so I can loan them to the shop to help them get going again.

Warning!!!
There is a member here that you should look out for! Goes by the title of "HARPER". Took me for $110! We aggreed to a deal for a Nortel minor with priority shipping. This was on AUG.7th. As of today I have not recieved said torch, and after talking with him on the phone today, I don't believe I will be getting it! He is giving me the run around then hung up on me. His name is Chris Harper. If anyone knows this clown, or knows any information on him, I would greatly appreciate any feedback! I though I would post here to inform others to BEWARE!:tantrum:

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
Saw your post in the other thread.
My first impression was well maybe he's dead if he's not responding.
Now I wouls say expose this scumbags ass.
Put more info in your other thread; full name, phone, address, email, all that.
I fucking hate seeing working people getting screwed over, they work hard for their money.
Some folks on here as well as me got suckered by Luke Baylee, due to pressure from the rest of the crowd on here and LWE, his missus eventually repayed the money.
Don't let these roaches get away with it or they will fuck somebody else. Zero tolerance rules.

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
(530) is Nor Cal. 828 prefix is mostly (maybe all?) cell phones. A couple friends of mine that live in Chico have 828 prefixes on their cell phones.
I don't know if you Paypaled the money to him or mailed it, so I didn't know if you knew that already or not.

Re: STOLEN GEAR LISTINGS - If it's too good to be true...
Thanks KoolGlass. I found that prefix on the web. It listed 3 cities in Nor Cal. I was going to research further but this cuts it down for me. Thanks for the intel. If you find out anything else, please let me know.
