Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
What's the volume flow rate of this system? How many LPM at what pressures?
-
Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
I second that. Looks like a great cheap starting oxy system but what's the lpm didn't see it on the page

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
My fault. I will update the specifications on the site. Nominal output is 45LPM @ 101 PSI. Maximum LPM=115. Maximum pressure = 116 PSI. Wattage = 580W/ 110-115VAC 60Hz. Speed 1650 RPM. Noise: very quiet at just 41 dBA. Multiple units can be used if more LPM is required.

DIY can still be significantly cheaper, but as far as turnkey components, this definitely seems more competitive than the components list that was recently published by HVO.

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
To be clear...this is a $1500 compressor. I don't really understand why it's being called a system. :puzzled:
-
Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
Well, they, um, put it in a nice metal enclosure?
Yeah, this looks to be just a compressor in a fancy shell. There doesn't seem to be any indication of even pressure based compressor speed control, much less any sort of system for managing attached concentrators.
If this is anything other than a compressor wired in to a box, the web site makes no mention of it.
If anything, it seems to be doing it's best to imply otherwise, listing common compressor features like pressure regulation and heat and overvoltage protection as the parts of this fully integrated "system".

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
"Working with a large Asian manufacturer ..."
-
Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
Plenty of Asian import tools are working way every day making parts right here in the USA. Its origin no surprise.
I guess some of the questions people would have is all the plumbing included on the input and output end? Do you need 40 LPM or will it run well with 30LPM?
Does it shut off at max pressure and let the cons just breath freely?
Seems like a good starting component to be finished of with the addition of a few electronic controls to make it completely automated ourselves.

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
and why not show a pic of the front, not the side?
does this also need oxycons? if it's just a compressor, then yes it does. the add would make you think you only need a large holding tank and you're good to go.

I agree the ad is misleading. The website says this compressor is compatible with a number of non-corrosive gasses and requires oxycons. It states:
Quote:
When used with oxygen, the Vortex© receives high purity oxygen from linked concentrators which remove nitrogen from ambient room air to produce high purity oxygen at 10 PSI** to the Vortex© compressor which increases the the gas to medium pressure (110 PSI) and then stores it in the oxygen receiver tank.

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
and i do hate to say it, but my personal experience (and that of people i know) is pretty terrible with Saltcity in regards to their oxy filling equipment. they don't "use what they sell" and i could tell you a story about ordering a "work while you fill" whip and receiving a bunch of parts that don't = a whip. one item being a pressure gauge, which topped out at 400psi, and the guy (Robert maybe?) didn't know why it was wrong, or what all was missing from the "kit".
several emailed pics and phone calls later, i had the correct parts but for some reason never could get it to "fill while i work".
i know this wasn't user error, as i basically learned on oxycons and homefills.
so, they are good people, i do like their website and glass (which is usually sent out with truffles or some candy) selection but i really wish they'd get someone who knows what they're doing to deal with oxygen producing and compressing machines.
i've been eyeballing that "eliminator" tank filling machine but wish someone close to me had one i can look at.

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
The vortex is a complete system including input pressure regulator, overheat system, automatic reset. All of the hoses, pressure relief valve, etc. All you provide is concentrator(s), pressure tank and a regulator. We do not include electronic control device because we feel (as well as concentrator manufacturer's) that frequent cycling of concentrators on and off will lead to premature wear. This also keeps the price lower and you can add an optional control box if you wish. We will receive our order of 2nd generation Vortexes within the next 3 weeks at which time we will produce a video. For a personal reply send all questions to omg.oxygen@gmail.com
TEASER: Watch for our latest product launch of the MAGNUM-40/20 in first of December. Our commercial 40 LPM / 20 PSI concentrator.

Yes, we supply the input and output hoses to connect to the concentrators and the buffer tank. To keep our price as low as we can we offer the system as a modular system. We can supply both concentrators and tanks if you need in a discounted package price. Why force you to purchase optional items that you may have or can source locally without freight involved? Mike,
I appreciate your input. I believe we provide high quality customer service. We do make mistakes as everyone does but try to make up for errors, such as when we spent a bundle to overnight an order at no charge to you. We are shipping three Eliminators this month. One to California, a second one to Utah and one to Hawaii. I am attaching a picture of the front of the second generation Vortex. This is from the factory in China and we will update the site with a higher quality image soon.Attachment 87597

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
is there any video you guys might have of a complete system up and running successfully? I have been very interested in the new products you are offering but its really hard to make the investment with no real reviews or any input from people who may have your systems up and running..

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
you may have overnighted parts to me, but i still didn't have a "work while you fill whip" as advertised. i wasn't about to send the whole thing back and lose more time on the torch, so i wrote it off. $200 and change for a regular whip and T's and valves i can't use. great deal. no offense, but you didn't even know why the 400psi gauge wasn't right.

This is kind of like saying a combustion engine is a transportation mechanism and that your engine is cheaper than someone else's car. You might be able to argue that it's technically correct, but it's clearly a misleading picture to paint. The car can get you from point A to point B, the engine (by itself) can't. You can call the compressor a "system", but the compressor by itself isn't going to let you run your torch. So comparing your component piece to the cost of building a full system seems like a bit of a category error.

This probably isn't the place for this, but can someone explain to me the problem with working while you fill with a regular whip? I have a 2 tank whip, I was going to put a shutoff between the 2 tanks, but I didn't. I've never had a problem with "breathing" or any fluctuations in oxygen pressure while the homefill's running. My regulator keeps the 02 flow constant, and the tanks fill. Anyone feel free to pm or whatever, I'm confused how others cant melt & fill simultaneously, break it down for me?

All you need to fill and work is a CGA 540 male output tee.

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
what are the things that make this worth 1500.00 vs say .. a gast air compressor or a califorinia air for a couple hundred ?

Re: Brand New Heavy Volume Medium Pressure Oxygen Systems for under $1500.
Just to clarify, that T splits it to two regulator connections, not hose fittings, right?

Correct. Regulator connection is called cga 540
