    Re: Slow Death?

I don't know how it works but I think if someone tags me I get an email still. I'm on IG usually @greymatterglass if something here needs urgent attention.

    FWIW, I didn't leave for FB, I don't...

    Re: Kiln Question

Aim kilns, like any other kiln, can certainly be run on a mercury relay but it really depends on the controller.

For decades AIM really only sold the Fuji PXR3 and it's various predecessors. Now...

Announcement: Re: oG Glocc Coma, we will miss you.

    Whoa :(

I was just thinking about him a few days ago. He was one of my favorite customers, always with good news, excited to see what was new, never in a hurry - we're both talkers, so his visits...
  4. Re: I still haven't learned to build a pipe but just learned about palladium.

Oh lordy.... look who's back. Back again.

I'd say we're about 20% disgruntled old timers who can barely hack it with glass, 30% hyped up kids who learned all there was to learn about glass in...

wait... is that just a glass crutch? I mean, that's probably one of the very first functional things I made with glass in like 2000... if it's what I think it is... just a little 2" length of 9.5...

For Sale: Re: Seam Glass Blowing Lathes

Still like to know the swing.

In a glass lathe swing is the distance from the center line of the bore to the top of fire carriage. This lets me know what size burners I can mount, and what size ...

Can you give us the swing, bed length, total run out (tolerance), and other specs for the lathe? What kind of motor is it, what are the speed ranges, how is speed controlled, etc?

    Re: 3D Printed glass

Maybe some day, but not with existing technology as it stands now. The complex feedback between glass and human operator makes existing common technology incapable of working glass free form / free...

    Re: 3D Printed glass

There have been various powder printers printing glass for over a decade. Zcorp was doing it last time I went to Siggraph over 15 years ago. The glass powder is sintered in a kiln after printing -...

    Re: 3D Printed glass

3D printed glass is absolutely a thing... I'm not disputing that.

What I'm saying is that THIS: 90171 is not 3D printed, but loop stitched glass... I stay pretty up to date on 3D printing...
  13. Re: Intermediate Glass Blowing with Jeremy Ross and Drew Kups

Pretty sure you pay them $500 up front and JRO$$ spends an hour rubbing his balls on your stuff while Drew shows you naked pictures of Puff Danny.

    Re: 3D Printed glass

I think you're stretching the definition of "3D-printing"... that looks like loop stitch / spun glass.... something done by hand, not machines...if it's a machine, I wanna see it in action :)

Re: There's only ever been one bong!

Naw... just a guess, but Shapeways is probably the shop that actually printed it, if so, that much steel... probably $1200-1500.

Want To Buy: Re: Glass adult toys

I get pretty frequent requests, but the price usually ends it. They're thinking about the $30 imports.... can't find a middle ground on that.
  17. Re: Ever seen Hurricane balls? Rendered by lampwork. Science meets art.

Too fast to see much of anything until they slow down, then you see the spinning color discs, they look kinda neat, but only lasts maybe 4-5 spins.

Use the [video] tag, and put the full URL...
