For what its worth, Pure is ideal just for understanding how/when to strike. There is an argument on 95% or better with select additives
on some alloys helping bond but that's only a tiny % of...
That's awesome, Ive tried doing that on purpose. Only thing I could add to that is cover the seams in clear. Kinda preheat & follow with a clear rod to work the air out of the seam & cover so I/O...
Forgot, you asked about the silver filings... skip that for a bit & try laying some light fume at first. Some amazing colors can be achieved by flame striking fume prior to blow in. My fav is burning...
Start small for sure, once ya get the hang the only limiting factor is how much heat your hands can take. My advice would be make a thickerish shoulder that has a 45 deg taper or more. Otherwise you...
In the future if you preheat the cup more & go slow on the blow-in you can laminate the two easier. The last pic I posted in fresh kiln whatnot is a blow in with Chinese black behind fume.
JAWS a specialty tool? Can I play too?
Amazing progress, impressive!.. As long as there are things left to learn we will all be newbies for life
Thanks. I'll breakdown how it's done soon. Just curious if anyone else was doing these. Been awhile since I've been on & may have missed 50 posts on it. No idea. But yea, it is very fast. I went side...

Hey Misha you every find a pic of that piece from like 10 years ago w/ the trip amb purple horns? Still one of my all time favs! Ive been looking for the piece I did that was 100% inspired by it. ...
Hey Chad, thx for the links! dplaza I'll get a video. Snoop, doubt ya'd want a Tormach. Great machine and all but machining is for the birds, I'm a much better glassblower than machinist. I had a...
Appreciate it Misha. Pretty sure everyone knows your glass parts like the red sea just out of respect without tools!
Lookin killer Misha! Just stick with it & you'll get the hang of this glass thing in no time....
Thanks Holmes- cool to hear..
Nice! Yea, you been rockin them for a while for sure. Great to hear
Completely misunderstood...

905829058090581Well hello again guys & gals- Its been waaay to long since I've posted... I just wanted to drop in and let everyone know that if anyone has any questions, comments, needs any...

Yes that is the newest large. Years ago the large had a compression pin holding the carbide in place the same way as the smalls. Now I make both the large & small so that the wheel can be changed...
The minimum on the large is 9mm. They will scribe 50mm easily. Just scribe, wet & shock. The smalls are designed for rod & blow tubes. Thanks-
I have tried different fixed points. Where the problem lies is when the point of contact is locked, the scribe tends to wonder left/ right as easy as front to back. The carbide wheel helps a ton with...
