I try to work it further out in the flame at first and ease it in when it starts to glow a bit. But if its not melted in all the way it will usually crack.
yeah as long as its a single piece and anealed it should be good, now I dont know about the glass on glass part thats a little risky and very likely to get a small fracture or some flaw.

yeah I never used one but I had an order for one so I gave it try. Turned out not too bad. Def would have done some things a bit differently though. Good learning experience.
