    yep look up 80/20 industrial t-slot bar. you will also need a linear bearing set and a brake. the rest can be done fairly easily.

    slag forms a skin on top of the pot. you have to scrape/skim that off it get to good stuff. Usually done with something resembling a long stainless steel paddle.

    Have you connected the can and stem before welding the downstem? Its much easier to get a clean seal and bowl if you do it before attaching the stem to can. Where in Illinois are you?

    Flatten bubble, open end like a coin slot. drop the coin in, and seal up the end. Encase and skin the surface as usual then build mass around the opal accordingly.
