plasma or neon base

i saw a thread here a long time back about a "static discharge base" for plasma or neon units that made it possible to light plasma or neon filled vessels without having any electrodes on the unit. The unit had to just simply be touching the base. i do neon work now and were thinking of some different type projects but iu cant seem to find a place to get the "bases" at? any help would be GREATLY appreciated! thx

harald eberhart teaches a class on plasma neon. he teaches you how to make them. they arent all that difficult: rf tansformer (of the right size), ac adapter , and some metal tape to increase the signal.

why don't you just buy one of the cheap battery powered plasma balls from wall-mart like this: plasma ball $12.95

...you could take it out of the plastic base,and make your own. Putting some metal tape on the wire to boost the frequency would be the move for larger peices.

wow I gotta try that. For only 13 bucks its worth a shot.
