Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello, I'm a new member who is really interested in working boro glass making pipes, scuplture and marbles. I've been studying the subject for about 9 months now and feel I finally have a good enough grasp to buy my own torch and kiln. Right now seems as best a time as any since I've been laid off my job and I've wanted to pursue an artistic career for all my life. The organic nature of glass combined with the vibrant colours is what draws me to the material.
I'm no stranger to art and working with hot materials as I've been a hobby blacksmith/bladesmith for 4 years now. Where I can see similarities with glass and steel I know full well that there's a large learning curve when it comes to flame chemistry and colour. I've been trying to absorb as much as I can from a lot of videos and reading sources online but I still feel I'm a newb.
I'm looking to get a Mirage torch and a Paragon front load bench top kiln from Mountain Glass.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Welcome!
Good luck getting that Mirage. GTTs are great torches, but there is often a waiting list to get one. I've heard of some people waiting up to a year. If you want one your best bet may be trying to get a used one. They pop up here from time to time, and you can also check the GTT Facebook groups. Sometimes even on Ebay. Just have your money ready. They often sell within a few hours of being posted.

Hey there Glass Fam!
I'm Sean from Texas. Took a 3 day workshop at GlassCraft in CO and am now totally hooked. My workshop is established and I'm getting my skills up slowly but surely. Currently running on a GTT Lynx.
Studio name (and MassRoots, Gmail, domain, etc.)(I've officially registered the name) is "All Up In That Glass Studio".
I know - a bit crass or whatever. But it's in my vein of thinking, and of course, highly memorable

Re: Rollcall
I'm Erik from Kansas. After making a spoon from a propane torch using garcia & vega cigar tube and seeing how amazing fuming looks I decided to get a few supplies for my Son & I to start learning. So far I've ordered my torch, some graphite tools & an l marver and a little soft glass. I hope to be up and running in month or so and learn to do some decent fuming before too long. Hoping to find a torch for my son that we could use to get killer fuming from and a few oxygen generators next. I've been reading this forum for about a month and just joined. Very informative and ppl seem pretty kind here.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
I'll throw down an intro.
Hello everyone who has already introduced themselves!
I'm 24, live in the borean tundra in the winter, and a lake of fire in the summer aka North Dakota.
Been blowing glass for like... 6 months? Or something like that off and on.
It's a super awesome time, no pipes are to be made in my neck of the woods due to North Dakota dishing out felonies to anyone that manufactures glass pipes... But i'm working on all sorts of other techniques like implosions, marbles, pendents, and such things like that.
Enjoi it!

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Not sure I would give all my business info to Indians ?
I was not treated fairly years ago by the import companies.
But I do order generic medication from India. So I have heard of stranger things.
I have Indian friends that I grew up with around here also. But Ashish sells jewelry imported from India wholesale. It is a different business. Indian was his first language.
I try not to need loans my sales are to sporadic.
