Cool. The black gives that wicked spacey look.

My only advise to you would be to make all the haze on the amber purple go away with an oxydizing flame before you do the blowin. You will be able to get a more dramatic effect with the color that way.

I see the reason for doing that Lurch but wouldn't that burn off the silver and gold fume? I've never tried it so I don't know but I understand the reason for using an oxidising flame with DAP.

Thanks also to Spano for saying what you've used to do it looking good there.

Yes Swampy it would burn it off.

But with any of the striking colors, I guess I assumed that everyone was fuming the inside of the sleeve with the gold and silver. If you burn off the haze of the Amber Purple you can allow the colors to come out, but you will still get the fume effect from the fumed sleeve.

I guess thats what happens when you assume... haha

I'm still fairy new to glass blowing, I just started working with the amber purple colors. I seem to lose the darker colors forever if I melt out the haze, the color usually goes a whitish color if not encased and a dark cream if its under clear. If I use a reducing flame on the amber purple colors from beginning until its encased I get a lot of colors to come out. I dunno, just how it works for me I guess.

I just went to take pics of the ones I made today and my batteries are dead. Ive got em charging so ill get them up in an hour or so.

spano, generally with strikers like ap its a good thing for it to be clearish when youre done working it, or with a light amberish tone. all you do then is give it a bit to be sure its cool (hold under bench and wait until it stops glowing) then turn it gently in the back of a flame just to get it slightly glowing. most people use a reducing flame for this. youll see the colour grow before your eyes, and just keep repeating until its to your liking

sweet blowins, i really like the fume and black

Ya I see it now Lurch, thanks for clarifying. The only AP I ever tried was a couple of shorts when I first started off.

The result was so messed up I never tried it again and thought hey why the fuck they sell shit like this when it comes out like this! heh heh you know how it goes.

Now I have a better understanding of the process maybe I should try score some more and booglarise it...
