    Default Flower marbles

I have noticed something lately...... when I have a selection of marbles that potential buyers are looking at, they are NOT picking the flower marbles from the choices I have for them. They are not bad and really do look like flowers. I have them in several colored petals but they are not selling.

I am wondering if you too have seen this trend lately or is it just a southern California thing?

Also, on the other hand, my copper marbles are selling like mad.

    Thanks for your comments.

nope, i sell most of mine... vortex and swirled fume are doing well too... peacocked backing makes them move faster.
    Thanks,

I wonder if it's because your copper inclusion marbles are so bad-ass that they make your flowers seem not as cool. That and flower marbles are not exactly common, but you see them a lot more than you see the copper inclusions (In fact, i don't know that I've seen anybody other than you make them).

    Just thoughts.

The one thing I have learned is that you can never tell what someone will like. I had a big box of "reject" marbles in my shop. Technically there was nothing wrong with them (no cracks, pretty round, etc.) but for some reason or another I just didn't like the way they came out.

I had a friend over and he saw them (he has also seen what I consider some of my best work) and he loved my "rejects". He insisted I take some to a show I was doing, and of course the first three I sold were "rejects".

    Cosmo's got it dead on!

a few years ago I had a box of pendants and beads that I just thought were butt ugly. At the time, my sister would take some of my glass to work with her to try to sell. She finally talked me into taking the box of uglies and sold all of them in one day for a higher price than I was asking for them.

Just goes to show...don't always trust your judgment on what others are going to like.

Wow this thread got sidetracked...it started about how flower marbles are selling.

there's been an explosion of flower marbles over the last couple years. john kobuki and sabina boehm have taught a lot of classes on this technique. i'm sure your flowers are wonderful but your copper marbles are very unique. perhaps you're selling to a market where flower marble demand has been saturated or maybe your buyers are educated enough to know that you are *the* guy to see for copper marbles. they really are pretty amazing rich.

Right on, I think the people see flower marbles more often then copper inclusions. I'm a guy and I think flower marbles are cool, but if I was a buyer I'd pick up the crazy copper inclusions over the flower marbles.

Maybe the buyers know that the copper inclusions are more of a rarity. Adding to the overall value of the piece down the line.

Rich, are the people that buy the copper first time buyers or long time patron collectors?
