I really like the idea of etsy and think if starting it every time I here the word etsy.

But the only thing that stops me is I have two galleries that take work and it has always sold.

I just keep making functional stuff cause of orders and really need to hit other markets. A lot of people think to gallery sale you have to be a named artist but the facts are some of my first mibs sold for way to much I let the gallery price the first run of stuff and was floored when she told me I had a check after bringing in some cane I smashed into a marble. and some black light mibs made out samples from the GA Wonka series.

Best of luck lorax have you ever used a secton of your blow-ins to make a disc and lay it down in a mib I think with like a vortex on one side and a nice spacey disc of your blow-in would look like space. I would think a nice 2 incher would sell like a hot cake and all the techs you have got down pat. I bet it would not take much longer than some of your pipes and if nice could fetch 50-100 round here. where as I remeber you saying a shop told you that he would give 18-20 for multi section spoon.

i would make more marbles but i feel like it'd be an even harder market than beads to tap into... i've been wanting to do some blow in beads but i haven't got to it really... maybe today.

I am going to make some blow in stock as soon as The liquid tank comes in Jan.
I am going make blow in stock for a whole day. I plan on doing like 10 diff colors and then some textured some not some gold some silver some both. I even have like 10 vials of gold leaf flake and I plan on doing a textued and sleeved thing with it. I will let you know how it goes. I will also post a pic of a few mibs, I really think its not about the market its about diversity in your line and applying the skills you have mastered. To make a living I try to get into any market I can be it flooded our not!

for me, it's about being in the same place,
long enough to build a following...

just like being in a band...
ya throw a few parties and have some open
jam sessions were people can get to feel,
like they kinda know you and those people
will add others to the mix... and if your consistent
and expanding your art, people enjoy following
your steps... that has a snow ball effect...

that way of thinking works for any given situation
where your selling and for any product you
    choose to specialize in...

throw out some stuff, a lot too cheep=kinda like a party
make a few videos of you working or, doing live demos
are my personal favorite= kinda like a social event
keeping things fresh with new stuff= kinda like coming
    out with a new song...

anyway, been a long day and i'm rambling...

    ..
    "You were born an original,
    don't die a copy."

    loosing my mind was easy,
finding it will be the task...

I have noticed on Etsy that a following isn't as important as it was for Ebay. Being seen is important. You need to work Etsy much more than you did Ebay.

i find more people coming tot me on etsy than ebay, although i did ebay when i was more of a noob and only tried like 5 beads...

i like etsy though, sold 3 things so far and have a few people favoriting things which feels just as good as a sale to me.

thanks murph, people seem to really be interested by that kind of fume work i noticed... gonna make more of those soon... that particular bead was actually from about a year ago too.

I find that with Etsy, you have to be there.
List at least a couple a week. AND, FYI- if a customer buys 5 things, it only counts as one sale.
that is just the way it is.
If I do not list anything, I have less hits on everything.
So, I list a couple a week (try to).
    And!
FYI- my Ebay views have gone down to about 1/3 of what they were pre-"bail out" days...

the etsy link you have is not working for me.
    off to play with that.

yea i noticed keeping new listings helps for a flow of traffic. it keeps me makin at least a few beads per week which is nice too.

yea they originally were all higher priced but it wasn't really working and i figure i wassssss being a little greedy... if i can keep a sale flow like i have been these past few days i will be happy.
